Question about Palm TX Handheld

1 Answer

My palm t/x was set in water on one side, the power button side. I have let dry for 4 days and inspected for any moister and found none with only a very small indication that a slight amount of water had been there. Now palm will not power on and the computer does not acknowlege it when connected. I know water is a bad thing but I do not feel it was that much. Is it gone for good or is there something that can be done short of sending it in ?

If you TX is in a constant loop and will not hard reset and clear the loop this is a indication of possible water/moisture damage which will need to be repaired. If it is determined to be water damage then it is a out of warrenty repair which thru Palm will cost $199. You can also check pdaparts.com, they have parts and do repairs as well.

Ac won't turn on after cleaning and E1 appears on control panel

E1, The e1 error code could mean multiple things. The most common fault with the unit is a stuck button on the access panel. Gently push each button in and out to ensure none of them are stuck. The panel may have malfunction due to moister. See that the unit is installed properly, and then leave it off for a few hours so the moister can dry up. if these two things dose not work then the temperature sensor could be bad. How to fix my mother board from wet?

As with most electronic equipment, as long as there was no power to it when it got wet and none since, dry it completely (use a blow dryer and let it sit in a dry environment for several days).

As long as nothing has corroded or still has moister in it it should work fine. I would try to use an old drive and a live CD to avoid frying the HDD if there is in fact damage to the board.

hope this helps

Dehumid....ad70usso....runs all the time auto settings don't seem to working collects fine ..but won't turn off when air is dry thanks

There are 4 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2. Also, keep in mind, basements stay moister longer than upper rooms.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35% and disable the auto mode.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Fell in water, how to dry out and recover?

First DO NOT TURN IT ON NO MATTER WHAT
If you do turn it on when wet then there is a high chance you will short the device
I would lay it out in some towels for a few days and let the water dry out. You can help it by blow drying every so often.
Wait at least 2 days before trying to power it up. IF it does power up, try to use the Palm Desktop software and get all the data out of the device before you actually start using it.

Camera dropped in a kiddie pool (NON-CLORINATED)

Well you are right , water and electronics don't mix but you may be able to save it. I did this just the other day with my digital recorder that fell out of my pocket and into a tub ow water. chances are 50-50. i quickly grabbed it and removed the batteries. Opened op the case as best I could and let it sit for a few days. Moister rises. If you place a plastic sandwich bag in an area of humidity, say outside, it will collect moister. people say to place carpet in the garage to stop moister but this just collects it as it drops from the car as it rises in the air. Anyway, a hair drier will speed things up also. It may or may not work again but it is worth a try. Be careful, the electronic flash device will give you a shock you will never forget if the photo flash capacitor is still charged. My digital recorder works great after taking it apart and letting it dry out. If using a hair dryer put it on the lowest setting. Wait a few days and re-charge or re-place the camera battery and give it another go.
I hope this helped some and let me know the outcome.
