Question about GE Energy Star SDL20KCSBS Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Open Question

Slow condenser and evaporator fans on SDL20KCSABS GE ref. mod# PFS22SISBSS. Freezer isn't at zero deg. can only get ten deg. liquid line is hot not warm to the touch. Cond. fan isn't rotating fast at all, blades are clean cond. is clean. Where are the controlls board for the cond motor? What is the prodecdure to check the cond motor?Are these variable speed motors?

Newer GE refrigerators use variable speed DC fan motors to improve energy efficiency. Fan speed is determined by the electronic control board. Your refrig is working as designed.

Where is it frosting, condenser or evaporator? If you mean frosting on evaporator line to compressor, probably iced up evaporator. If you mean frosting after condenser by capillary, unit short of gas/ blocked.

Ice forms on bottom of Freezer drawer on Mod. GB2FHDXWBo1


The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Water collects in the bottom of the refrigerator,,, where is the drain line located that I need to clean out? Mod: ET1MHKXMQOO

The water is slow coming out of the dispenser but the ice maker works normally model TFX25PP

The freezer is slowly rising in temperature(0-18 deg in a week, still set at zero) and either side of the unit by the freezer door are very, very hot. Unit is about two years old. Fridge temp is slightly...


Check the condenser fan motor in the back, bottom of unit. pull off lower panel. Fan should be running when unit is running. Also check the condensor coils underneath or in back to make sure they are clear.

Can a chest freezer be used in an unheated garage where the temeprature falls below freezing for an extended period? The garage is insulated so it doesn't get as cold as outdoors but it does drop below...


why not then when its down to zero shut the unit off and open the lid and free freezing...no electricity required....remember pop machines sit out in all types of weather

Slow compressor fan


You need to remove the fan and test it somewhere different. The compressor is in need of the condenser fan. Everything will overheat without that fan working. You should also test the power at that pin plug. Let me know what you find. Sea Breeze

Is the fan that moves the air from the freezer to fridge running If there is a switch in cabinet somewhere the freezer door would contract it, with door open push in switch hear the fan both are good. have check the current rating,this can determine if your freezer is under charge,use a clamp ammeter hook it up on common line of compressor,set ampere on tester to 50 amper so you can read clearly,compare this on rated current on manuals or theres a description tag on backside of your freezer look for rated amperes .this should be done by aircon / ref technician if you can't do this,have check also the leak , have a nice day don't forget to rate me,thank's
