No power with mains or battery for finepix S5600

Was using camera about a week ago at Chelsea Flower Show, took 4 shots and went to turn on again for another shot and absolutely no power. Changed batteries and still no power. Got home from holiday, plugged in mains adaptor and still no power.

Screen totally blank and no beep to say any power getting through.

I suspect totally dead camera ready for the bin!!!

Camera is about 18 months old and not been used much at all.

Any advice
C

First reply did not answer the question as to why camera did not work ( no power ) even with the mains adaptor plugged in.

Also I did put new batteries in the camera the day the fault started and this did not solve the problem.

The Finepix S5600 consumes battery power like crazy... I made this experience as well. I guess your batteries will be dead and you just need to replace them to run the camera again. Power is supplied to the camera by four AA batteries. Running throughfour AA batteries at a time can soon add to the running costs. To keepthe costs down it is worth using rechargeable batteries with thecamera. Fuji estimates you should be able to take around 250 photosbefore needing to replace a set of standard alkaline batteries. I recommend you to use the new Sanyo Eneloop batteries, they are technology leader in the rechargeable battery market (http://www.eneloop.info/) You can get them here or at ebay (maybe best place)

Fuji finepix S5600 won't take pictures

A possible solution could be found in the menu of the camera. Scroll through the menu and look for any dropdown menu that deals with mode and see if the correct mode is selected.

Try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera first with a pencil eraser and then with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

All bateries are loaded but camera does not give any activity reaction by activating the camera. Last time I used it was about a month ago. I only reloaded the bateries and put them in, but camera does not...

There is a saftey cut off switch located near the xd card slot. A plastic tab on the inside of the door activates the switch on the main board. Make sure the door is firmly closed or that the tab has not been damaged.
Other possibilities could be blown fuses on the main board or duff batteries

Fuji FinePix S2 Pro won't turn on

I had a very similar problem a couple of years ago. Found intermittent power from AA source when battery tray was moved slightly while shooting. I ordered a new AA battery tray from Fuji ($50 I think), problem solved, no trouble since. The tray must hold the batteries tightly against the contacts inside the camera. Camera had only shot about 5000 frames when the problem arose. Hope this helps.

Internal battery of S5600 flat?

There is probably not much you can do but I guess you could try getting a newer battery.

As you said, its 4 months old and assumed under warranty cover. Contact Sony Service Center for repair because if you try yourself, will void warranty.

CAMERA WILL NOT TURN ON

Try new good quality batteries.
i experienced this issue last night. Even after replacing the batteries i had the same problem though the batteries were from a very cheap pack & i'd had them a while. The camera worked fine once i'd recharged my normal batteries. I'm no expert but I expect switching the camera on must use much more power then review mode causing the camera to switch off before it has time to tell you your batteries are low.
Hope this solves your problem!
