05 escape CD4E sometimes has a slight flair between 2/3 shift

Had the fluid flushed at 60K second owner so I don't no if done before. It had an occasional flair but was worse after that. He said he thought it was the shift solenoid? No codes, and it has gotten better after running a while. But it is still there? He added a conditioner in a red bottle? Do you think it needs the shift solenoid? Could another product help like Lucus for the trannny help? thanks

It could very well in a solenoid but their are many things that can cause the tranny to do this. the red bottle of conditioner is call red devil. not bad stuff but their are others that are better. look up products from a company call bg. of all the things i would do would be take it to a tranny shop most do free exams to the tranny.

Slow 1-2 shift

I service or change trans fluid on all vehicles, every 2 to 3 years
max, or they will fail for a fact

You do not flush a trans, too much work & lines are disturbed

Your asking for trouble removing coolant lines, flushing lets fine
debris into solenoids & changing all the fluid sometimes makes them slip, because you never changed the fluid every 25,000 or
3 years, max

(50 years experience & former trans shop owner)

May have to remove the valve body & clean, if the 1-2 shift
valve is sticking or a solenoid is bad

Your probably very close to bad news on that trans

8 years with no fluid change is a death sentence

1995 AWD shifts "hard"--kind of

FLUSH? thats a big reg flag, flushes, and incorrect fluid cause a lot of problems. you may need to have a trans shop check it out.

My 2004 deville shifts a little rough at different speeds. It seems to do it when the car is warm to hot.It does not leak.Would a transmission flush help the problem? It has 76000 miles.we bought it with...

You Change Trans & Power Steering Fluids every
30,000 miles on ALL Vehicles

I don't suggest flushing,some people do

If you want to chance having problems get
it flushed

You remove all the fluid it may just start to slip

You have to understand that fluid changes DO NOT FIX

The fluid removes heat & breaks down
That is why it is changed

I would assume you don't flush brake fluid every 2 years
Trans & Steering every 3 years,not over 30,000 miles
Spark Plugs at 60,000 miles

When you buy a used vehicle you lay it up for two weeks
& work on it,never drive it
All Preventative maintenance gets done,regardless
of what you were told about the vehicle

How often should engine coolant be changed on a 1989 Olds Cutlass Ciera?

For most of the cars the Scheduled Maintenance Services has to be done at 30K, 60K and 90K. At the second Service at 60K dealers recomend the coolant system to be flushed. The inhibitors in the coolant starts breaking down, and the result might be a corroded radiator, heating core, and a partially clodgged heating core.
The transmission oil can't last for ever too. It starts breaking down at 30K and has to be changed at 60K.
It is a good idea to flush the braking system with fresh brake fluid too. The 60K service is expensive and it is a good idea to be done by yourself. It is not going to hurt your car if you change the rear differential oil too.

i would not use anymore treatments however i would replace the shift solenoids because when you do a flush it brakes all the gummy build up louse in the trany and your shift solenoids work kinda like injectors so with that being said it has stopped them up somewhat causing them to not work right. hope this has helped you and good luck!!

sounds like either a bad speed sensor or controller. shift points are too high, should be at 2000 or slightly less. if fluid is good and clean and shifts do not flair, check those control units. Not sure about calibrate...could mean out of calibration...Id ask
another tech about that. (i don't know everything!)

Grand cherokee wont shift out of first gear

That's called flairing and is not a good thing (indicates pressure loss inside unit) If you haven't changed the fluid in a long time sometimes a fluid and filter change with an additive such as lucas conditioner may help. Generally though, there is no real chemical fix that replaces worn parts.Depending upon where and how worn your unit is, sometimes doing this will prolong use for many months. Or, it will have no effect at all. Sealing will not happen overnight it took a long time to get this way.If you need an immediate fix, have it rebuilt.

1997 jeep cherokee gears stick between 2nd and 3rd gear

If shift is delayed, it may be due to either temperature or varnish in unit. Has the oil been changed in unit at regular intervals? Low temps with even slight varnish buildup can give poor shifts, but it usually clears up as it warms up. If unit is "flairing" (engine speed increases with no shift & slight sensation of power loss ) then shifts, this can be the result of internal wear. If trans oil is very old and dirty, change oil & filter.(if there is an excessive amount of fine metal or non magnetic debris in unit, likely there is internal damage) If fluid is clean and unburned, check to see if your vehicle is equipped with an electronic shift module (have someone check codes to test). Otherwise, unless you are a technician, bring it to a reliable transmission shop.
