My whirlpool top loader will not switch on

Power lead is fine, but machine does not switch on. Is this the lid switch or timer? If so how do I change them? washer does not go in to rinse cycle on any setting, but timer still moves around. Is there a pump swicth to drain or pump motor.

If it agitates but doesnt spin then it is probably the lid switch but if it wont do either Iwould say take the outer cabinet off by taking the small screws out of the console on the left and the right about 1 inch in from each side pull out and up on console and it will swing up and oveer the top then there are two brass funny looking springs put a screw driver in them and pry backwards and they will pop out. disconnect lid switch ( good time to check and ohm out if you have a meter continuity with switch closed) then pull out on the cabinet and it will slide off the front and set aside then check the connecter on the motor they have a problem of bad connections and getting hot clean and tighten as well as possible then bypass lid swith ( short wire between outside terminals on pigtail from console) try again. if works put alll back in reverse except on springs you have toset them where they go and with the palm of your hand push then down untill lthey snap inplace dont get your fingers under them and as always disconnect power before working on unit,.

My wash machine wont agitate or spin. i have a whirlpool top loader and it is around 15 years old.. it is in great shape. It turns on fills with water and then goes silent. The timer works. It seams there...

If you're getting no motor noise, the most common cause is a bad lid switch. If the lid switch is good, I would suspect the timer. Here's a video that may help you access the parts.

Top Loader stopped during spin cycle and now won't work

The lid switch cuts off power to the washer and will cause the washer to stop and not to start at all when it fails or when the lid switch strike breaks. Check the lid switch strike located on the middle right side of the lid. Replace the lids witch strike if it is broken with part number 3950298.

Push and hold the lid switch, using a screwdriver, through the hole on the right side recess of the top cover and start the washer. The lid switch actually clicks when activated.

Check the continuity of the lid switch when activated if the washer still doesn't start when the lid switch is pushed and held. Disconnect power to the washer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Remove the screws at the front bottom corners of the console then slightly pull the console forward to clear the console tabs from the slots on the cabinet, and then flip the console to the rear of the washer.

Disconnect the wiring harness connecting the timer to the lid switch wiring harness connector on the cabinet then using an ohmmeter, check the continuity of the lid switch while it is being pushed. Set the ohmmeter to XR1 then touch the test leads to the right and left terminals of the lid switch connector. Replace the lid switch when the resistance reads open.

WHIRLPOOL LSB6000PQ0, FILLS BUT DOES NOT DRAIN, THINKING THE TIMER NEEDS REPLACEMENT?

Slide a old CD under the left and right front corners of the control console to release cabinet clips. Fold the console to the rear of the machine. Unplug the lid switch plug at the connector. Take a volt meter set for continuity and place the leads in the lid switch connector. Open and close the lid. If you have continuity the lid switch is good and you should replace the timer. If you have no continuity replace the lid switch.

Washer loaded water but wont do any other work

if it's a top-loader, the lid switch is either broken or loose, could be the timer, but the lid switch problem is so common that's where you should look first

My washer is not draining or spinning. It fills & agitates. whirlpool LLR8245DQ0 . i LOWERED THE DRAIN HOSE AND DRAINED IT BUT IT STILL DIDN'T SPIN

It may be the wire from pressure switch is either not receiving power through the switch or it may be broken? If that is ok then check timer.

Whirlpool Top Loader LSB6000PQ0 fills up with water but that's it

you probably closed the lid to hard and broke the switch that tells the machine that it is closed. So the machine thinks the lid is open and for saftey reasons will not operate. I had the same problem. You can buy a new switch for about $10 or you can simply cuts the wires for the switch and wire them together. If you do this be warned that the machine will never know if the lid is open or closed. The machine will assume that the lid is always closed. But it will work also.

lid switch is bad chance are you can by pass this by removing the timer header and crossing the outer wire on the lid switch that it mounted closest to the lid not the power cord this will tell you if you need a switch

Drain/Spin won't work unless lid is lifted up

Curdy, it almost sounds like your lid switch is loose or fractured and the lid actuator is not making the switch. Check this out first and post back...Catriver.
