That warning is screen dependant, i.e. if you are on a password screen for hotmail, as an example, where the password is case sensative, then the warning will pop up, where as if you were in a document, then the computer assumes that you know the caps lock is on.
I hope this reassures you that there is nothing wrong.

The VX series are cheaply made with cheap caps and they failed due to bad caps, see my pictures here:
VX2235 came out years (2006) ago so I cannot see that it will be only 8 months old. I fixed many of these VX series.

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Please check whether the monitor is set to the correct settings. If you feel its incorrect, most LCD/TFT monitors come with an auto set up button which will restore the display to one that usually works. In case it still doesnt work, you might need to connect your pc to a different monitor and check the display settings. You could also try to download the drivers for this monitor and then re-connect the monitor and see if it works.
