Question about Startrac Fitness Products Star Trac Pro S Treadmill

Open Question

StarTrac Pro chain adjustment: After setting the adjustment for the chain as described in the maintenance manual, 1? ? 1 1/4? of play; I then rotate the pedals and the chain gets very tight and than very loose as I continue to rotate the pedals. Could the problem be bad bearings in the Bottom Bracket? Bad bearing is the Fly Wheel? I?ve tried determining for the bearings are bad, but can?t tell; all suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

How to set timing chain on 1.8l Nissan sentra2002

The easiest way to set a timing chain or belt is to mark locations of timing gears before removal of old belt or chain. Install new belt or chain keeping gear locations the same. Tensioners shoud be adjusted with out upsetting gear locations. Gear locations can be marked with paint or scribed and etched on surface. If gear locations have been changed already, you must align cam shaft (s) position with main shaft position as far as current operation. Rotate main shaft to have cylinder # 1 piston to top of stroke. (exhaust position). Then rotate cam valves for cylinder # 1 to have exhaust valve open. Mark and maintain this position during belt or chain installation. You may still have to make minor valve adjustments after you start engine.

StarTrac NXT Chain Tensioning & Alignment Video

About This Video

Adjusting Chain Tension and Alignment on a StarTrac NXT

  • In this video, we show how to tension and align the chain and flywheel on a StarTrac NXT bike

  • First you see an example of a chain that is way too loose

  • To correct this loosen the flywheel bolt on both sides of the flywheel

  • Loosen the tension nut on the sprocket side of the bike and tighten the tension bolt until you get the proper deflection on the chain

    • A properly tensioned chain will have roughly 3/16" of deflection

  • Tighten the tension nut and the flywheel nut on both sides as shown in the video

Check the Alignment of the Chain and Sprockets after Making a Chain Tension Adjustment

  • Misaligned chains will look like they are walking from side to side where they enter and leave the sprockets

    • This can cause noise, premature wear, as well as making the chain look to be jumping from side to side during use

  • To correct this, loosen the flywheel nut on both sides of the flywheel, then loosen the tension nut and adjust the tension bolt to move the flywheel in the proper direction needed to align the chain with the flywheel sprocket, as seen in the video

    • Note: If you have already achieved proper tension of the chain, adjusting the tension nut on the opposite side from the sprocket will help to keep the same tension on the chain

  • Don't forget to check the chain tension after making an alignment adjustment

How to tighten chain on 4620avx poulan pro

First, RTFM- read the manual. Lost it? No problem, download it from Poulan PRO website page for PP4620avx. Pick a version you like, save and read it. Google is your friend.
Chain Adjustment Part cut and pasted as follows:
Adjusting the tension:
Chain tension is very important. Chain stretches during use. This is especially true during the first few times you use your saw. Always check chain tension each time you use and refuel your saw.
1. Lift lever on bar knob and turn counter-clockwise 1.5-2 turns to loosen clutch cover.
2. Turn adjusting wheel (downward direction) to tension chain until chain solidly contacts bottom of guide bar rail. Lift tip of guide bar while adjusting tension. Tighten chain Adjusting Wheel
3. Use a screwdriver to move chain around guide bar to ensure all links are in bar groove.
4. While lifting tip of guide bar, tighten bar knob securely (clockwise).
Hand tighten only.

Be careful not to destroy the adjustment mechanism. When it breaks, go for a clutch cover with the simple adjuster that needs a "scrench". Longer term, learn how to search this info. Saves time. Now you can work on sharpening chains- very important.

Chain noise

Excessive drive chain noise is caused by the following, lack of proper maintenance, keep it clean and lubed, next would be correct adjustment, most bikes about 3/4" deflection at center run of chain up and down play, next would be a worn out chain and/or drive or driven sprockets, last but not least and very noisy is the chain being stretched, if you rotate the wheel the chain gets loose then tight. Always check the sprockets for excess wear when replacing a chain, the drive sprocket on the engine is hardened steel and wears the least.

Hi, I just cleaned my Poulan Pro. Changed out the gas, opened the carb and flushed it out with fresh gas, cleaned the fuel lines, the spark plug and air filter. I didn't replace the fuel filter though. ...

The fuel pick up or filter should be changed every year but if your saw will start and run good but just not idle then adjust the screw marked T counterclockwise slowly until chain starts to rotate without you depressing the throttle. At that point back it off about 1/16 of a turn until saw will idle but chain doesn't move.Thank you. P.S. If you want to you can go back to factory setting by turning H & L fully closed then open 1 to 1 1/4 turn and very slowly adjust for smoothest operation. Do not adjust H anymore then minimum off factory to avoid engine damage.
If you need further help I would suggest you have a trained tech.service it. Good luck.
