Re: charging

The canon powershot s70 comes with an external battery charger. Open the battery door (bottom of the camera, slide it away from the center of the camera body) remove the battery (push the little brown tab and the battery will pop out) and place the battery in the included external battery charger.

Nikon coolpix s70 has blurry pictures even after resetting to default settings. Camera has not been damaged or dropped.

Hi you have lens unit defective. Even if you didn't damaged and dropped, its appearance problem is the lens unit, you can bring to your local repair shop. It is quite easy problem. some point they could save part, but time is money. they would want to change the part. your part from nikon usa is very expensive, but from ebay it is very cheap. It is used but it would be reliable in most case. If you buy and bring it with camera to your local repair shop, they would charge less labor then you bring camera only. repair shop would consider that you know what it is going on. Thanks and kindly! ( labor they would charge around $25 to 75 depend on what they want to charge)

When I charged the battery, it seemed to have no charge as soon as I removed it from the charger. So I bought a new battery and that is doing the same thing. Do you think the charger is at fault? I don't...

Ideally it will be good to have the voltage checked a the pin of the charger. if the voltage is good then connect to the camera and check the voltage at the battery terminals inside the camera. If this is lower than the specified battery voltage then the adapter is faulty. If not there can be some error's in the camera charger control circuit in the camera.- hoping that your battery is the OE type.

I opened the lens cover the lens moved out and the camera went off. Now it won't do anything even when I put a fully charged battery

I think your camera battery is not holding charge, replace it with new one.
Else there may be any of the following fault with your camera.
  • Your Charger may be faulty, try to charge it through USB Cable by connecting it to your system (computer), I case your camera have facility to charge it from computer.
  • ON/OFF switch may be malfunctioning (shorted).

I've had the same problem...after 3 years of fantastic operations, it just died after a few shots on day...just can get it to power up...not sure if its worth a repair as you can buy a 7.1 MP camera these days for ~$200...and they're smaller... but Im sad coz I really did dig my S70....

It should easily last a few days. I didn't think the infolithium batteries lost its charge, but I could be wrong.

Charging S70 Batteries

Lithium battery is very sensitive to overcharge, so there is a chip inside the battery to take care that for you. You don't need to worry about leaving it overnight.
