The grinder is set too close or fine to actually capture the beans and grind them. If you have adjusted the slider to the max coursness and it still doesn't work you can manual reset the tolerances. To do this empty the grinder of bean and remove the two screws holding the hopper down. Once this is off clean out any other beans and remove the rubber grommet cover with a X pattern that seals the hopper over the grinder. Now you can see an outer ring with lots of hole in it - take a white out pen and mark a line to mark its current position relative to the inner ring. Now roll upwards the coarseness lever to "pop" it off the outer ring. Wind the outer ring a quarter of turn anti clockwise to open the gap. This is why you make the mark. Replace the hopper and add some beans and give it a quick test. If it works ok then replace the coarseness selection lever in the middle position (5), rubber grommet and hopper and enjoy some coffee.

It is possible that the grinds chute is blocked, remove the brew unit and check the chute from the grinder chamber, make sure that it is not blocked with coffee grounds.

The grinder grinds too long, then stops and then the bean refill light goes on, ---there are plenty of beans but no coffee being made. I think the grinder is not working somehow. Its a 5 year old Saeco...

The lever under the bean hopper is set to low. Push it all the way to the back.
There is a leverbehind the door in the middle top. Pull it to the minus and try again.
If that doesn't work you are going to have to take the grinder apart and clean it.

The beans will grind but there is a bad clicking/knocking noise and coffee wont come out, water heats etc no error message

Hi
The dreaded clicking noise is usually the brew drive gears are broken. Usually caused by too much coffee in the brew unit that it can't compress ( 2 scoops of coffee). If you have ever done that, its broken but can be fixed.

Pucks in dregs drawer very wet

Hi
3 things can cause wet grounds.
1. You don't have enough coffee going into the brew unit. There is a lever on the right side behind the door at the top. Push it back towards the rear but not all the way. This will put more coffee in the brew unit and take up the air space so you will have less water.
2. Your grind is too coarse. Pull the lever below the bean hopper towards the front when it is grinding, to make the grinds smaller. Again less air space. Do this 1 number at a time so you dont make it too fine. Let each adjustment for 3 coffees before you make the next adjustment.
3. Your grinder has come apart and is grinding very coarse (French press). New grinder.

Grinder turns, but despite being full of beans, says "Cof. Beans Empty" - have cleaned thoroughly en used compressed air to rid any ground coffee that may have caused a blockage, managed to make 1 cup,...

Hi
Sounds like you have a blockage in you grind passage. Try removing the brew group. Then inside on the roof of the machine above where the brew unit sat, there is a drop chute where the coffee is dropped into the brew unit. From the left side of the drop chute pull down and back towards the center of the machine, and it will drop coffee. This will clear an opening that relieves pressure on the passage. There is a passage inside the drop chute area that goes to the grinder. Vacuum it out. It will be on the right side of the drop chute.
Once that is cleared go to the bean hopper. There is a lever under the bean hopper. Push the lever back to the largest number. You can push the lever to a larger number any time, but it has to be grinding to pull to a smaller number. Now replace everything and make your coffee. Once you have made your coffee you can pull back to a number that was higher than the one you had it on, but only when the grinder is running.

Saeco Royal not grinding... is it possible for the auger to wear out?

Hi
Yes the burrs can wear out. Have you tried to adjust the coarsness setting? Push the lever below the bean hopper all the way back and try it again. If that doesn't work there is a trap door above the brew unit inside. Open it and vacuum it out. Then try again.

Coffee beans don't grind even though there are beans in the hopper. Message: empty coffee beans. Grinder turns, but doesn't sound like the beans are going through.
