Well first of all, there is no "adapter".  You have to use the specified RAM that you motherboard supports.  Secondly, even if there was an adapter so to speak, it would not be beneficial.  The only difference performance wise between DDR and DDR2 is speed.  So if your motherboard supports DDR, and you had an "adapter", your motherboard would only read the DDR2 at DDR speed.  In my opinion, DDR2 is not really worth the upgrade to another motherboard just for DDR2.  If you want the biggest bang for your buck, upgrade the CPU, or put more memory in the motherboard you already have.  Hope this helps, and please don't forget to rate.  Thanks.

No you cannot upgrade. there is no connector also to upgrade. you must change the motherboard if you want to upgrade to DDR2.

I wouldn't think so the 2 memory types run on different voltages, although I think Gigabyte have a motherboard that has both slot types though it won't help you I'm afraid.

If new processor supports your old motherboard then you will upgrade system with your old motherboard.

If its not supported to new mother board then you have to buy new motherboard to upgrade your system.

Thanks.

I have compaq presario 5000 series...and iwant upgrade my ram ...i have 128+128 sd ram so how much i upgrade my ram...can i upgrade 512+512 sd ram OR 256+256 sd ram...thank you

the RAM upgrade will depend on ur motherboard capacity and specification.
u need to check ur MB manual
if ur MB can have only SD RAM then only SD RAM upgrade is possible...DDR will not work....
so be careful while buying ur RAM

intelD845GLLy MB...the following details are from the intel website

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845glly/sb/CS-012825.htm

System Memory Features
The D845GLLY board provide the following memory features:
  • Two DIMM sockets supporting 3.3 V (only) 168-pin 133 MHz Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
  • Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only
  • Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB
  • Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only
  • Suspend to RAM
Caution Do not use ECC DIMMs with the Desktop Board. Using ECC DIMMs could damage the Desktop Board.
Integrator's Notes:
  • Registered DIMMs are not supported on the Desktop Board.
  • This Desktop Board has been designed to support DIMMs based on 512 Mbit technology for a maximum onboard capacity of up to 2 GB, but this technology has not been validated on this board.

Note To be fully compliant with all applicable PCI33 SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance.
hope this helps
Reg....bye

It used to be a waste of time and the only solution was another MB. Now they have come up with higher value ddr's (I think they call them 2 in one). If these ddr's are available, then all you will need is to raise the CPU chip voltage. You have to give me the CPU speed in Mhz. I see it as a good possiblity to update the computer with more RAM and raise the frequency to make it faster. You can get some life out of the computer and then sell it and replace it with another new computer. I have worked with all kinds of mother borads. There are some very good and expensive ones (which are not any better than the others). There are also some expensive mother boards that are plain no good. In my years of experience, if I needed a new mother board, I would buy one of the various models that they curently have. The name of the company is PCCHIPS from Taiwan. I have three so far for my own personal use and I am happy. I started to ask you about the CPU speed and forgot to ask you to let me see it. This way we can make our decision, upgrade MB and speed up the CPU vs. Buy another MB vs. buy another computer. Remember that jut about all computers perform equally. Equally, it is the reliability. I have three laptops we use for travel: one Compaq, that after 8 months we had to replace the MB du to problems. New MB's are more reliable than OEM. My other computer is a 1600 series ACER. About a month after the buy, I lost the CD/DVD drive. Other than that, everything works.... The third one is a business computer by PH. It works and works and works... 3 years now. They have a good blower, unusual for the run of the mill, the computer is mostly cool, even when I have to leave on for overnight VOIP calls. My name is Constantin (arzconst is my nickname assigned by my employer Fixya.com)

Vista compatiable

intel doesnt list any vista drivers for that motherboard on there site so you might run into problems with the intergraded devices such as the ethernet, audio, chipset, & any intergraded video

You might be able to use the xp drivers but if theres problems it wouldnt be supported by intel
