On this one, I would try to remove the rear cover (if it slides) and unplug/remove the battery for 60 seconds, then replug/replace the battery and try again.

My devise plays normally for a while then... freeze + updating?

You need to update the firmware to reoslve your issue, but here are some pre-steps:
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Try another USB port
Reset the player

If that fails:
Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager:
www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed
Enter in your exact model #
Click on the link for your exact model #
Click on the Software & Drivers section
Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software"
Install the new Device Manager
Open and run the "Repair" tab

If still nothing:
Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

If these methods fail, call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty.

After a while of listening to songs my mp3 player freezes up.

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

MY GOGEAR FREEZES UP WHEN I SWTICH IT ON

I can only turn player off with 'reset' and a pin, and when I turn it on, it gets to 'GoGear' and won't go any further. I've followed the instructions given and tried to run the device manager, tried the volume button thing, and nothing is working. My computer won't recognize the player and I can't get it fixed. I've had it less than a month, but I can't take it back to the store. This is the 2nd one I've had with this problem. The first one messed up within my 15 days. This one waited 20.

Frozen screen on my phillips mp3 player

You need to get the latest firmware upgrade from the Philips website:
1. Go to www.philips.com/support
2. Enter your country/language
3. Enter your model # SA6045 or whatever
4. Click on the link for your exact model # (the one w/o the "B" in it)
5. Click on "Software & Drivers"
6. Download the updated "Device/Firmware Manager"
7. Once installed, open the Philips Device Manager
8. Click on the "Update" tab, then the "Update" button (with your mp3 player connected to the computer, of course)
9. Your Mp3 players firmware will update automatically

If you do not have the latest version of the Philips Device Manager installed (the latest is the version from the Philips website), then clicking the "Update" button will give you a false positive saying "The firmware on your device is already up to date."

Frozen sandisk sansa clip

Restart the computer once and try replugging the player again. If it is still a no-go, I would just double-check everything. My Sansa Clip had the same problem after working fine for a couple of months. I reset the player, which solves the freezing issue one time, but doesn't correct it permanently. I did the firmware upgrade and the Sansa Recovery Tool. Then, the computer didn't even recognize that the player was plugged in. So, I used the volume +/recovery method - disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. I even reformatted the player inside of Windows Media Player. Nothing. I was just about to give up. Then, I restarted the computer, and the player started working as normal. I think that the Sansa Recovery tool, in particular, requires a computer restart for it to initiate correctly.

Possible hardware issues, but try soft fixes first. firmware upgrade resolves most intemrittent freezing issues, but: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Philips GoGear SA3125 MP3 Player - won't turn on

I have the same problem right from day dot.... have found that using a pin on the reset button gets it back on every time! But the problem keeps coming back. I believe its a software bug on these units. Dont try and fix it... take it back and get something else!
