Try this, take and unplug the drive from the computer and do a reboot of the computer. Then once your computer is back up, try plugging in the drive again and that should take care of it. If it does not, Go to the Start Menu, then Control Panel, then System. Click on the Hardware Tab and then click on the Device manager button. In the right side of the screen you should see a little yellow icon on the drive in question. Right click on the device and select uninstall. Then reboot your again and plug in the drive.

Is it set to run disc or hard drive 1st?
if reinstalling windows it needs to boot up from cd drive 1st and this will automatic copy to new garden drive, after that change bios to boot up from hard drive.

Laptop says no operating system found wot do i do as its a samsung notebook

Hi,

Check if the harddrive is detected in BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) setup by pressing F2..or F12 (depends on what key is designed for the BIOS setup).

- If the harddrive is detected in the BIOS (usually shows the harddrive name or values beside "Drive 0"), your operating system is corrupted. You need an operating system disc to install it.

- If the harddrive is not detected in the BIOS ( no value beside "Drive 0"), either the harddrive cable is loose, the harddrive is not inserted properly or is defective. Check the harddrive compartment at the bottom of the laptop and use screw driver to reveal it. Try to reinsert it or use a good known hard drive.

Hope this helps.

Lap top can't find hard drive

Hi,

Here are some steps that you can try.

- Check if the harddrive is recognized in the BIOS (Basic Input Output System). Normally you will see values beside "Drive 0" at the first page if the harddrive is detected. If it says none or blank, then it is not detected. Reload BIOS default settings and try to boot up the unit to see if it will pick up the harddrive.
- If the harddrive is not detected in the BIOS, you need to unscrew the harddrive compartment at the bottom of the laptop.
- Reinsert the harddrive and check harddrive cable. Also try to use a good known harddrive if yours is defective.

Hope this helps.

It's boots up and show the acer home screen then turns black and says t press f2 but nothing happens

It's having problems looking for a bootable media ( like optical drive, harddrive, bootable flash drive).
Try these steps:
  1. Unplug any external devices, including memory cards.
  2. Turn of the computer, remove the ac adapter & battery, then hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Reconnect the ac adapter and battery. Turn it back on.
  3. Set the first boot device to harddrive
If problem still persist, please revert back to me or call an authorized Acer technician

The screen was cracked, I had it replaced and now it is saying no hard disk its a compaq laptop

Go to BIOS and check whether the harddrive is detecte in BIOS.If it is not detected then the harddrive is either missing or there is a problem with the hard drive connection.Reconnecting the same may resolve the issue

After startup my PC I got the BIOS screen stating in "Detecting IDE drives...".but it does not detect the drives and also not enter to the further startup configuration.please give a solution of this...

Shut down computer, disconnect from power outlet. disconnect all usb devices on the usb ports and just leave mouse and keyboard connected. disconnect harddrive cable from the motherboard and hard drive and reconnect cable again.

Restart system afterwards to see if the issue was resolved.

Should you have any other questions please just leave a comment.

Cheers~

SimpleDrive 1TB Hard drive not connecting

Windows XP and vista can both automatically detect harddrives, especially with USB connections. The only problem I can see is with the connecting cable. Maybe it is not connected properly. Try another set of cables to see if it solves the problem. Also, try plugging it into another usb port. Also, trying rebooting windows with the harddrive plugged in. Another possibility could be that the device drivers for the drive is corrupted on widows. Go to control panel on windows and look at the device manager and try to manually reinstall the drivers using the disk that came with the harddrive.

Cannot find operating system when booting

Could be your harddrive is out of the system. Check its connections first, then have it detected. If not still been detected try changing cables and power plugging(interchange if it can). Other done than maybe failed drive already.

And before I forgot remove any other booting disc, usb, or flash card. Maybe you left one. Or try to lessen your fan usage during fault finding.

Replaced harddrive and dvdroom wont recognize in bios

Goto bios menu. And change the setting on hard drive and cdrom. It could be it still set in the old configuration. Try to set it in auto detect. Then save the setting. Then goto bios once again to check if the settings doesn't change. Restart again and wait if something you didn't expect still happens.

Leave a comment if this solve cd rom detection.
