You can erase and restore you zen and that would be advisable. as for the sound, is it coming from inside your player or from you computer speakers.
if it is coming from inside the player, you could have a bad hard drive. Those use the same hard drive that in the apple 30gb ipod.

I know it difficult to understand, but is the noise coming from inside your player or inside your computer.
The messege your getting is due to the Zune is designed for high speed usb and you pluggin it into a usb 1.0 but the computer is seing the zune so you should be able to get connected.
uninstall the zune software from your computer and do a fresh install. Then reconnect the zune and see if it comes up.
Now as for the noise, chances are what your hearing is the computer making a sounds as it connects to the player. Thats normal.
Just try the reinstall and see what happens.

Press and hold the Back button
as you press the top of the Zune pad. When the Zune device begins to turn on, release the buttons.

if that doesn't work, use a different usb port, preferrably one in the rear of the computer attached to the motherboard.

    Check it...

go to control panel _ them system_ device manager and look for your zune as a USB device. Right click and properties.
click the drivers tab and update device driver.
If you have a zune software disk, reinstall the usb drivers. if you have upgrade to 2.2 firmware the usb driver may be incompatible.

also are you running xp or vista?

what's up is this...your computer is missing the proper drivers and software or what you have in there is not working for your model.
i would go to microsoft.com, download the newest software for the zune and the newest drivers and install it.
if that doesn;t work then your missing something maybe windows updates or .net framework or something.
is your windows update on and up to date. if not make sure it is.
I am pretty much out of ideas for you so if you still have problems maybe you can post another help request. But I have given you everything I know and ideas for how to fix it.
    Take Care and Good Luck

Welcome to Fixya.

You need the Zune software in order for you to connect this HTC to your computer. Zune can be downloaded through this link:

zune.net

Setting up Zune to sync your computer and phone :
  • Connect your phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Zune automatically opens on your computer, if you haven't opened it.
  • Wait for Zune to recognize your phone, and then follow the onscreen instructions to set it up.
Selecting items to sync with your phone
After setting up Zune on your computer, choose what you want to sync with your phone:
  • Connect your phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Zune automatically opens on your computer, if you haven't opened it.
  • Click collection on top of the Zune screen.
  • Choose the type of media (for example, Music) you want to sync to your phone.
  • Choose the items you want to sync with your phone, and then drag them to the phone icon at the bottom-left corner of the Zune screen.

My Zune 4gb won't sync with my software and will not charge

Hi,

I had a similar problem with my 30GB Zune. The first normal solution is to make sure that the USB port is providing enough power to the Zune to charge it by trying a different port or computer, but since your other Zune charges it is likely not the problem.

Other possibly solutions are performing a hard reset on the Zune (hold back and up until it resets), or allowing the zone to completely discharge and try again. In my case, none of these solutions worked and I was forced to send my Zune in for a new battery, which Microsoft was willing to replace for free.

I can't add songs to my zune player

More information on Zune related issues can be found at the Zune website:
http://www.zune.net/en-US/support/default.htm

There are many problems that can occur if you cannot upload songs to your Zune.
Is your zune plugged in via USB to your computer?
Is your zune ON?
Does the Zune software recognize that the Zune player is plugged in?
You can also go to your account settings in the Zune software and set it to where your music files are stored so it adds them.
If you have the Zune pass, try and download songs and then SYNC the software and player (little sync icon on the bottom left of the program).
Again, there are multiple reasons and cases on why you could be having problems. Please goto the Zune link for support and read through their faq's to assist you. If you still have problems, reply with a more detailed problem.

Zune will not sync

Okay... what you do is Hold your zune in you right hand.. open the toilet bowl with your left.. put the zune in the toilet... and then flush it... or if you have not gotten a zune... just throw the $200+ in the toilet instead.. Because i have the same exact problem as these guys and none of their solutions have worked..
