Question about Teledyne Laars Laars Lite 2 Pool Heater 250,000 Btu / Natural Gas

Laars Teledyne Pool heater flames on for 2 seconds, shuts off

I have a Laars Teledyne Pool heater. It's about 10 years old. LLD 400 line. When I switch it on, I get flames for 2 seconds and then it shuts off. I tested the rollout and the pressure switches on front, and they are ok. Is it the ignition system that's failing. It uses a Fenwal Ignition System 05-339011-003. Any help please!! i have the same problem but my unit is a bit newer model #ld250n

You have no flame rectification.....LLD series heaters check for a signal through the flame to ground; if the module does not detect this signal, it go through two more trials for ignition and then lock out the module. There should be a flame rod and it may need cleaning. I use steel wool.

It sounds like your pool heater might have a defective controller (the part, not you). Check the controller and replace if necessary. It could also be that you need to cycle the ignition sequence until the air is out of the gas line. It could also possibly be that your gas valve needs to be replaced.

I replaced the ignition transformer in my Teledyne Laars epc325 pool heater and cleaned everything. When I switch the heater on the burners all work fine but they only cycle on for about 10 seconds then...

This is probally your ignition wire is bad and not reading flame at the pilot or your pilot is bent or something so that when the pilot lights the flame isn't hitting the sensor probe at the pilot. When looking under the heater use a mirror so if you get roll out of the flame you don't get burned. Good luck and be careful.

Burner cycles on and off within 2-5 seconds. What could the problem be? Model Teledyne Laars LLD250N

Sounds like the flame sensor. If the sensor doesn't see a flame, it shuts off. Good luck...Lee
