Question about Frigidaire GLRS234ZA Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Fridge area freezing food; water dispensor line freezing

My problem is accelerating daily.  It began with the water dispersor not working. I replaced the water valve, but that did not solve the problem. Later the fridge portion began to freeze food...rather oddly.  Two bottles of water side by side, one froze solid and the other didn't even have ice crystals.  All of this occurs with the two dials set on "factory setting". The only fix I have is to turn it completely off until the water line thaws. The fridge is hit or miss. I never know what will freeze...top shelf or produce drawers, even at the lowest setting.

Sometimes when the cooler weather comes in you may need to chnge temp setings to a warmer setting to prevent some items from freezing ie: leafy vegetables, water bottles, eggs, etc etc.

now if you are having total freeze up of everything in the ref section then you could have bad temp control or damper assy.

My Amana ASD2625KEB is making a jackhammer sound when I use the water

Sounds like the=> 67006531 Dual Water Control Valve has become weak and when trying to remain open so the water will flow to the water dispenser has began to vibrate and cause this noise. Usally when this happens the water control valve is failing and most times will stop working. Pull refrigerator away from wall and have someone feel the control valve while someone else presses the dispense water switch to confirm that the valve is shaking before replacing. Anyway this is the part number=> 67006531 for your model ASD2625KEB

Sounds like a head gasket to me. if you go thru that much water in two days you should be seeing white smoke out the exhaust system.

Yes, the short tube that goes from the back of the refrigerator to the icemaker can freeze up solid preventing any more water to pass thru. this is caused by a bad water valve that is slowly leaking water to the icemaker.

Filling up with water

Jimbo, you are going to need a new inlet valve. This is very easy to change out. Remove the 3 torx screws in the back for the top. Slide it off toward the back. The valve will be on the inside top left. Two quick connect harnesses, a couple of hose clamps and your done. I don't have the part number on hand but you can find it on the tech sheet located behind the bottom panel. Three screws to take that off. Or you can go to repairclinic.com, enter your model number and hunt it down from there. Once you change the valve, your leaking problem will be over. Catriver.

Dishwasher filles up with water between running it. I have to run the drain cycle at least once or twice daily. I have shut off the water valve to it for now.

sounds like the water valve is leaking. If there is some dirt in the valve it will cause it to not fully seal and shut off. If the hapens water will leak by. Replace the inlet valve and your dishwasher will not fill when its not in use
