Question about Frigidaire GLRS234ZA Side by Side Refrigerator

Fridge area freezing food; water dispensor line freezing

My problem is accelerating daily.  It began with the water dispersor not working. I replaced the water valve, but that did not solve the problem. Later the fridge portion began to freeze food...rather oddly.  Two bottles of water side by side, one froze solid and the other didn't even have ice crystals.  All of this occurs with the two dials set on "factory setting". The only fix I have is to turn it completely off until the water line thaws. The fridge is hit or miss. I never know what will shelf or produce drawers, even at the lowest setting.

Re: Fridge area freezing food; water dispensor line...

Sometimes when the cooler weather comes in you may need to chnge temp setings to a warmer setting to prevent some items from freezing ie: leafy vegetables, water bottles, eggs, etc etc.

now if you are having total freeze up of everything in the ref section then you could have bad temp control or damper assy.

Why is the water coming out of the dispensor not cold

Is your fridge compartment temperature in the region of 2 ~ 6 C range. Is your fridge food not going bad. Then dispensor water should be cool. Cool water tank is normally hidden inside fridge compartment. Lowest temp is around 2 ~ 6 C range.

If you keep on taking water rapidly then there is no time for the cooling tank to cool. You are just pushing house water through the water dispensor.

first run the diagnostics on the unit from the tech sheet inside the unit, then if thermistors are bad replace these there are 2 one on the left and one on the right wall in both fridge and freezer,if good per diagnostics then replace the electronic damper door located between the fridge and freezer compartments in the upper left hand corner of the fridge behind the plastic grille as these doors break and jamb open or shut and the temps can no longer be regulated during the diagnostics tests you can hear this door operate if its operating correctly, lastly,if these fail to solve your problem, replace the main control board in the back behind a panel

I have water, about 2 inches in my veggie crispers daily. The freezer is keeping things frozen. Why do I have soon much water?

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Good luck in solving the problem....

Freezer temp is -4 and refrig is 38. Not sure if these are correct settings but water in freig bladder keeps freezing and can't get water. Warmed bladder twice to get water to come out. If freezer temp...

Sorry if you don't like this solution, it does not make it work correctly. But my water works all the time now.
We too had the water dispensor stopping due to freezing of water in the storage tank. A blow dryer and about 10 minutes later we could get it working again.
We tried different fridge temp settings , and according to a thermometer placed inside the fridge in various locations we are getting the fridge temps we want, so it is not runing too cold.
I tried insulating the storage tank and the lines, this did not work.
I removed the tank and just connected the two lines, this still did not work.
I finally just pulled the lines out of the fridge completely and connected them underneath the fridge so water runs from the valve at back straight to door. The plastic panel on bottom was a great place to store the lines. I drilled a hole to reroute the door line to this area . Line runs behind lower plastic cover on front . The water does not get cold, but it never stops flowing, this was more important to us. I did consider rerouting both lines to the top shelf and putting the storage tank back in to get colder water, but no one minds the way it works so I probably will not do this. I would have run them up the back to avoid the inside lower area of the fridge. In the long run I will avoid this brand and avoid "twin-cooling" completely. All my neighbors and friends who bought this type all had to throw them away as they were too dofficult and expensive to keep running.

Water dispensor stoppedworking

If the light and ice dispenser on the front panel works and If your fridge is 4 years old or older, the insulation in the freezer door has most likely deteriorated and the water in the tube feeding the water dispenser has probably frozen. Open the freezer door, put a blanket over the food to keep it from defrosting, and use a blow dryer to defrost the door. Blow the hot air on the flat panel inside the door (the backside of the water dispenser). Close the door about every 5 minutes to check to see if the water works. Once the water begins to flow, you have successfully defrosted the ice in the tube. Defrosting the door works for about 12 hours until it freezes again. To solve this problem, I placed a 10" weedeater line up thorugh the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8 of an inch sticking out. When the line freezes again, pull out the weedeater line, dispense water to free the ice, and then reinsert the weadeater line. I keep the line in all the works great! If the light or ice dispenser do not work, the problem may be *********** board.

Water dispenser suddenly not dispensing water

Remove the bottom kick plate . Follow the plastic line about 6" and you'll find a connector . Push in on one end of the connector and at the same time , pull the line out . Close the door and press for water . If no water comes out of the disconnented line , the water valve is probably bad . If water does come out , the line inside the freezer door is frozen . If this turns out to be so , you can lower the freezer temp for maybe days , or , put the food on the door, inside the freezer , tape the light switch down ( to keep the lite off and fan running ) and tape plastic over the freezer door opening so the freezer will continue to work . Reinstall the line back into the connector by pushing the hose firmly into place . Leave the freezer door open for maybe 1 or 2 days for thawing out , going by ocassionally and pressing the water dispensor . Important : lower the freezer temperature slightly to keep line from freezing again . ONLY CHANGE THE FILTER WHEN WATER FLOW SLOWS OR ICE CUBES GET SMALL . The change filter lite comes on by the amount of times water dispensor is used and to make money for the vendor .

Freezer will not keep foods frozen fridge will not keeep temp.

Sounds like a main control board problem keeping the freezer fan from working . If no air flow to the top of the freezer , the icemaker will stop working and the ice will begin to melt ( leaking from freezer ) . The coils will start to freeze up due to no air flow across them . If continued for a period of time , the cold air could return thru the return vent located in the bottom of the ref/freezer section and freeze the water tank in the refrig section , causing the no water thru dispensor .
