SOURCE: Kenwood KDC-519 Faceplate Problem

Detach the faceplate and look at the electrical contacts on the back of it for damage/dirt - you can spray it with electrical contact cleaner. Do the same to the contacts on the head unit - it sounds to me like one or more of them are a bit loose or otherwise not working properly.

SOURCE: Kenwood KRC -X858 Faceplate/Power Problem

I have the exact same problem. I called the tech line and the tech reported that the ribbon cable is probably broke. It is the flex cable between the head unit and the rotating face plate. He said it's not an expensive fix but we would need to mail it to a service center if you're like me and not near one. I just replaced mine with a new unit. It was about time anyways.

I just Spoke to tech support. This is what they said:
1. Key in the on position and the red power button lit, remove the face plate.
2. On the left bottom side press and hold the reset button, with a pen, for 10 seconds and let go. The red led on the right should flash.
3. Reinstall the face plate.
4. Push power. The unit should come back on.

Mine worked, and i was about to tear it out and return it. So try this first or even call tech support for Dual 1-866-382-5476.

How do i remove my Dual xdma7715 from my dash? I find it nearly impossible to remove it, the previous owner of my car installed it.

Every aftermarket deck that is put in a vehicle slides into a metal sleeve into the dash. This metal sleeve serves two purposes 1.) To secure the deck inside the dash 2.) Serves as a theft deterrent
First thing you want to do is remove the faceplate. Second there will be a bezel (plastic ring that goes around the faceplate. This will be attatched to the deck and not the faceplate. It just snaps in all you have to do is apply pressure with one of your fingers to the edge and it should just come off. Now if you get this far you should be able to see the metal sleeve I spoke of earlier on the outside edge. The way the sleeve is designed it has perforations that act as little clips when the deck is initially installed. There are tools that are sold to apply pressure to these clips to disengage the deck. In the past I have done it simply with two butter-knives. You insert one on each side preferably in the center, this is where the clips will most likely will be. Both sides will have to be disengaged, at this point with them inserted you should just be able to pull it right out of the dash. Oh before you even get to the deck be sure to remove any dash pieces that are going to obstruct your movement. If you need anymore help then let me know

Stereo issues

I'm assuming that you installed the head-unit new and that the faceplate did (at one time) previously slide down the way it was intended to work - is this assumption correct?

Is the molding around the head faceplate (mounting ring) damaged?

Are you sure you're not using the semi-permanent mounting configuration??
(see page 6 of the manual)

This particular unit has the option for a semi-permanent mounting of the face plate. If the two screws are inserted into the sides, it will lock the face plate in to the head unit (have you done that?) - if so, removing the screws will allow the face plate to be removed.

This is what the manual says:
With the unit off, press OPEN to allow the front panel to slide
down. Gently squeeze the release tab located on the bottom
center underside and pull faceplate down and away from unit
to remove. To install, insert left side faceplate first, then push
right side to secure.

Tried it and couldn't get it out.
