Question about KDS Computers & Internet

Monitor connects and displays for 2 seconds, then blacks out.

When the monitor is connected to the PC, it displays immediately, but only for a couple of seconds, then goes black. How do I get it to stay on?

I would suspect an electrical component is failing. Try your monitor on another computer and see if it does the same thing. If it does, the monitor is failing. Also/Or try another monitor on your computer. If the new monitor does the same as the old monitor, then maybe the video card in your computer is failing. Try a new video card. Keep trying different component combinations until you decide what has to be failing.

The display on the Dell SE198 dispays while it is searching for the input mode. It displays for aproximatelly 2-3 seconds while it confirms that it is recieving analog input. Afterwards the motitor "seems"...

Turn your computer off.
Turn your computer on, and immediately keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "boot-menu".

If you never see that menu, connect the monitor to a different computer, e.g., a laptop, and see if the monitor works at all.

When you see the boot-menu, select "Safe Mode".
Reset the video-resolution to 800-by-600, and restart.

When i turn on my monitor it shows my desktop then shuts off after 10 seconds...never stays on

elainenemeth, Hi, Tell me more! How old is this LCD monitor? Is it out of warranty? Did the "SHUT-DOWN-IMMEDIATE" problem occur without warning? Did the BenQ display a "perfect" image the day before? Did you actually count----1001, 1002----1010 and then it shut down, after pushing the monitor on button. Did you do the "flashlight" test? With monitor connected to a "known-good", fully booted pc with Win Desktop displayed, TURN ON the monitor! Did it display the desktop for 1-2-10 seconds ? What did you see or not see when you pointed the flashlight at different angles about 1-2" inches from the now dark (black) screen? Get back to me with your results. I will offer the best advice possible to you as a consumer/user of LCD/FPD monitor. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol.com Bye for now.

Monitor goes black for a few seconds

Try swapping the monitor cable from the working monitor to the other video connection on your computer. Effectively reversing the connections to isolate whether your problem is the video card in your computer or the monitor itself. If you find the working monitor displaying similar symptoms, then check your video drivers and ensure that you have all power saving features, screen savers, etc... turned off.

oboy, One thing to try is the flashlight test. and get backto me with your findings. Tell me, does this lcd show a nice display only for 1-2 seconds and then a black screen when connected to a fully booted PC with Windows desktop displayed? Shine a bright flashlight 1-2 inches from panel and tell me if you see the WINDOWS START Button at lower left of screen even though screen is black! Get back to me if you can. Viewsonic VE175b Monitor Powers Up Doesn't Display Windows OS

Hi; I had the same problem. I know that sometimes devices require you to perform some type of '10-30 second' "hold" of one or some of its buttons in order to 'reset' the device, so to speak. So, having said that, try this:

1) Turn your monitor off (no green light) but leave it plugged in.
2) Leave it off for about 10 seconds.
3) Hold the [2] button on your monitor (the one to the immediate LEFT of your monitor's POWER button).
4) While holding the [2] button, now press and HOLD your POWER button.
5) Wait for your image to appear and STAY onscreen for about 5 seconds, then release both buttons.
6) Your monitor should retain its onscreen image.

Hope this helps! Good Day to all!

does your monitor have an external transformer as the psu ?
If so, try disconnecting at mains for about 5 seconds and re-connect. failing that we'll need to dig deeper.
