you did not provide me enough info to make an image about what really happening ..., but in presumption that the cam is fully functional I suspect that the batteries are not charging themselves proper cause they are dead ....( too old ) anyway I provided you with a manual in pdf and you can study and try to identify the problem ...

I did not use my camera for 3 months when i get it to use the picture is blurd. even the screen is not ok there is like fire. i tried to format and reset the factory setting but still doesn't work.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. This is a common problem on these models. It is either a faulty CCD sensor or LCD panel. If this is a problem while taking new images, however old images are still perfect - this indicates a problem with CCD sensor unless this is an indication of faulty LCD panel. Unfortunately, in both situations, repair is never advisable as the cost of repair would be high as compared to cost of the camera. It would be wise to invest in new camera. Be advised that if it is faulty CCD sensor, there were few recalls in the past for old models. So, it would be worth giving a call to their customer service and ask whether there is any recall or not. If not, they might offer a replacement in lieu of this camera at a highly discounted price.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My camera went from working perfectly one minute to over exposing all pictures in all modes, and the lcd display has coloured verticle lines on the viewer! what happened and at 4 years old is it worth...

Hello

OK, this sound to me like you have a blown CCD. Unfortunately, you will not be able to repair this yourself, but, you can take it to your nearest camera repair shop.

They will be able to inform you to exactly what the problem is, as well as the repair cost.

Kind regards
Andrea

Problems with LCD screen

I called Canon support and they told me to hold the Menu button down for about 6 seconds and then it will ask you if you want to reset, check okay and then use the set button.  If that doesn't work they will repair your camera for free... it's something to do with the CCD unit.

Canon Powershot sd30 Black screen

Then it sounds like there may be an error with your CCD (what comverts the light going into your camera into a digital picture, like digital film). even if your warranty is expired canon may still repair this for free. Contact canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and explain to them the problem and that you think the CCD may be defective.

Defective ccd imager!! company will replace this ccd imager free of charge. Year 2002 up to 2005 released unit has a factory defect ccd imager. the company recalled those units and replaced with a stronger version of ccd imager ( they are still doing it). check it out.
