Monitor (Acer X193W) works okay with another PC. This Video card worked for years in another PC; I just installed it in another PC that also ran okay for years (with a different Video card). I will have access to a monitor with DVI input soon to try the DVI output of the card. ??????

What kind of monitor? Have you replaced the cable? Try the pc on another monitor. You need to see if it's actually the monitor or the video card. replace the broken or defective part.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Black horizontal lines across pages

If they are the same distance apart every time then suspect the problem to be caused by the components in this order First the drum that is in the print or xerographic module, the charge and cleaning roller are located in that module also. So I suspect that first.its .Located above and to the right of the toner cartridge. Secondly it could be the roller on the toner cartridge, that would occur probably every 1 1/2 to 2 inches apart, the drum would cause the defect about every 3 inches. It less likely could be coming from the fuser, and if the fuser was causing that you should also have a lot of jams. There is also a transfer roller on the right hand door that could be causing it, but that would be exceptionally rare.
If the lines are random and have no consistant spacing, I would suspect the power supply then the laser.

The faint white lines at the top of the screen is the warning that the pump-up capacitor in the vertical output circuit is going bad and the output itself is about to short out. When the TV stops working, the vertical output IC has finally shorted out. Replacing the vertical output IC, the pump-up capacitor and possibly a small value resistor next to the flyback (B+ for the v-out) should bring the set back to life.

Very poor picture

  • your problem is called picture with retrace lines.
  •  your problem is in video output circuit
  • as you are saying that it was off for a year that means there is possibility of loose contact in that section.
  • plz check the following
  • supply to video output absent or loose print.
  • loose connector in crt base.
  • crt base loose
  • voltage on screen control or g2 absent or wire loose.
  • screen control located on flyback transformer mistuned.
  • hope this will help
  • good luck.

White Horizontal Lines near the top of my Screen

this symptom is what we called vertical fold-over. vertical fold-over is characterised by a white horizontal bar on the bottom or top of the raster due to the concentration or compression of the trace lines. it an image is present, the bottom or top portion is fold over. this is caused by a vertical deflection current with poor linearity, which compresses the trace lines at the bottom or top of the screen. this symptom is is caused by a defective sawtooth wave genetator circuit, or improper biasing or defective feedback circuit of the vertical drive or vertical output transistor/ic. the negative feedback circuit in vertical deflection circuit compensates for the linearity of the trace portion of the sawtooth wave. a decrease in the capacitance of the sawtooth generator capacitor is usually the trouble. but if you do not understand anything what i have written here, better bring it to a qualified tv technician for your own safety also. good luck!
