Question about Minn Kota Endura 30 Freshwater Transom Mount Trolling Motor

Not getting into the gear

I have a problem with the rear gears. They worked fine for the first six months and then I ended up with trouble for the rear gears. They seem to go really slow and the rear gear (3rd level) really only kicks in with it's high speed when I keep the handle somewhere in a position between 2nd and 3rd gear where it does not lock into a steady position. If I go all the way to the third gear, it is going super slow again.

Hi, is it possible you have removed the gear lever at any time? And replaced it with the rod below the gear shaft instead of above the shaft as it should be , this would make 1st gear rite up instead off 1down, if this is not the case, and you can select all the gears from 1st to top gear, then it may be that the neutrol locating pin in the end of the selector has broken or even the end plate.bolt on the selector has just come lose, other more seriouse problems include worn selector forks, or broken circlips etc

On long high speed drives the final drive can get very hot. Purchase a Full Synthetic 80/90 Hypoid gear oil. Amsoil, Valvoline, etc. and change the rear end oil. The synthetic oil will run cooler in the final drive than standard gear oil. Take the oil pan with the old oil out into the sun light you will see some very, very fine particulate in suspension. But you should not see any bigger pieces, that would be a sign of trouble. If you look through the large opening (fill hole) you can see the gear meshing surface on the large gear. The polished/wearing surface should be a rectangular area in the center of the gear tooth/paddle.This would be an indication that all is well.

since you didn't list the year and model I can give you these items to check, On front wheel drive vehicles the rear is a floating axle,, meaning no rear end gears , check the wheel bearings and brakes, If you have a rear end with gears , you still need to check those 2 items but also the fluid level in the rear end itself,, if those all check out ok and the same thing is happening,, you may have gearing troubles, or driveshaft

I don't think you can get a rear end that high sped, the best I've ever seen is a 3.2 something . I had that with a 305 and my engine revved higher than 2200 with that. I think you would be better off with a 700R4 transmission from the early-mid 80's. It should bolt on and the overdrive works off an electric/vaccuum switch mounted on the firewall. Hope this helps.

Speedometer, Odometer Out, Cruise problem '94 Ford F550 Super D.

if the vehicle speed sensor in the rear end is the same as the lighter duty f series they are very vulnerable, they run right above the large gear in the main drive of the rear end gaging the speed off this gear any metal chip or anything foating in the rear end can get grabbed by this gear and hit the sensor then it is ruined very common in fords. your can check the part at autozone or similiar store for lighter duty trucks it is 19$ and very easy to get to right on top of the rear end. If this is the problem id have the gear oil changed and check for debris in rear end to keep this from happening again. good luck

Something is wrong with my rear end.i checked the gears and they look fine but when i lift the rear end and put it in drive only the passanger side wheel turns

it is definetly a differntial issue. to see if the gears are turning properly lift car, remove the diff cover and turn the tire by hand. both tires should turn if not its time to get new gears or differentail.

I just changed my rear end gears on my 2006 silverado had 323 when to 373 in hear a humming noise humming from thr rear but it dont do it all the time just some times could it be my tires my tires or about...

If noise was not there before the gear change I would say that the gear are not set up correctly. Have the shop or person that did the gear swap recheck the gear backlash and the pattern on the teeth.
Too much heal or toe on the gear mesh will cause a decel whine or an accel whine. May just need to reset the tolerances on the gears.May be best to have a reputable shop check and reset the gear backlash and pattern. This is not much af a DIY type project unless you are experienced at doing gear work.

Hope this helps
