Canon PIXMA ip4000/paper jammed problem

I have followed  as well as possible suggestions from Canon Troubleshooting notes.

I cannot see the paper in the Output Tray,

nor in  the Sheet Feeder, nor in the Transport Unit.

Notes on the screen are as follows:-

Paper out, Changing paper source.

1.Load paper in cassette. 2.Press Printer RESUME button.

When I try to load A4 paper on to the cassette, the  cassette will not  go in all the way-so I haven't been able to use the RESUME button.

I  take it that I have not understood how the cassette works.

Re: Canon PIXMA ip4000/paper jammed problem

Tackler- I dont think I have a solution but I know that the cassette should stick out about 5cm i.e. the cover just fits on nicely. I found with mine sometimes it needed a firm (but not hard) push in as obviously some sensor was not being tripped and it would just not pick up the paper in the tray. Have you tried using the top down feed? At least if that works you can print (and you can stack up a couple of pages).

Orange flashing 3 times

This is a paper jam error. check for any paper jammed in the printer, switch it off and open all trays, sheet feeders, duplex unit to check for any paper. if paper was jammed previously and was torn, there might be a piece of paper still stuck in it.

hope this helps!

My pixma iP4000 doesn't work after I took out a couple of sheets of paper that had jammed in the printer.

Check very carefully for any debris left in the printer from the jam. There are photo sensores embedded in the printer that will display an error if obscurred by paper.

Led blinks green and orange alternatively on pixma iP4000

That error can also be the purge or cleaning assembly on the right where the printhead parks is jammed. Cleaning with a wet Q-tip helps that area and you need to push back the squeegees if the pads below them are stuck. Check for any paper caught in that area.

I am getting service error 5100 while trying to print page..the page passes through but nothin is printed....suggest me a solution????

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer. If this not help your printer need service.

3 yellow flashes, then 1 green on a Canon PIXMA Ip4000

3 flashes is a GREAT symptom report. We need some more than that, but it does give us a direction.

If this is a "Service Call Error", it will be accompanied by an on screen message that includes a "6000" error code.
Here are the possible solutions....
- Timing sensor unit (QM2-1213)
- Timing **** disk film (QC1-4833)
- Feed roller ***'y (QL2-0598)
- Platen unit (QM2-1215)
- Logic board ***'y (QM2-1548)*1

These solutions are not for the novice, but are user servicible for many out there.

If this is a "Operator Call Error", it will also be accompanied by on screen error codes

Paper jam. [1300]
Paper jam in the under guide. [1304]
Paper jam in the rear guide. [1303]
Solution: Remove the jammed paper, and press the Resume/Cancel

Front door closed. [1250] Open the paper output tray.

Canon IP4000 Error Code 5100

It is a carriage error.
Most times this is a serious error that requires a Canon tech to fix it.
Look at the carriage and see if there is something obstructing it's movement. If you recently had a paper jam, there may be some paper stuck in the path.
You should be able to move the carriage freely with the power off.
Let me know.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Error 1300 keeps coming up on myh Canon Pixma IP4000 although there's no paper?

Dear pants53,

Code 1300 indicates that paper jam error occurs. First, check whether any broken paper inside the paper path, remove it then press Resume/Cancel button. If problem still persist, means paper sensor error or paper sensor cam is broken. If it so, then I suggest you bring your printer to nearest service center.

I had identical prob with a PIXMA IP4000. Eventually solved by turning upside down removing bottom feeder tray and gaining access to the four rubber rollers which pick up the paper. I rubbed each one with light sandpaper to roughen up the rubber, turning each one by hand trying to try to abrade all the surface. It did the trick.
