Question about ATI RADEON Graphic Card

Cannot get second monitor output to work on ATI Radeon X1200

I have 2 SGI CRT monitors and I am trying to get them to work as an expanded desktop. I have WinXP pro Sp3 with an Asus Motherboard and an integrated ATI X1200 graphics card with a VGA and DVI-D out. I have no problems with the direct connect VGA toVGA that is my #1 monitor, however, I cannot get the 2nd output( DVI-D) to produce any signal. THe Catalyst software sees the 2nd monitor but I cannot get the devices to talk or show in Device manager. I have the 2nd monitor routed through 2 adaptors - DVI-D to DVI-i and the DVI-I to VGA. I cannot locate a 2nd output adaptor/driver for this setup.
PLEASE HELP!

The Radeon x1200 is a card used in mobile/notebook computers. Are you saying you have a desktop that uses that card?

The latest version of AMD's driver package you can use is Catalyst 9.3 according to their website. If you're already using this version and it will not support multiple monitors your only option is upgrade the video card.

Your question is rather strange though, you say you have an Asus motherboard but you don't say which one. If it truly is an Asus with integrated graphics it is worth checking the Asus site to see if they have updated drivers.

A DVI-D signal is digital (whereas DVi-I is digital AND analogue) and can never be converted into a VGA signal without using expensive hardware boxes that convert the signal. These though tend to lose quite a bit of the signal quality. If I were you I'd look for a monitor with a digital connection, because I'm afraid this isn't going to work.

I'm sorry your problem can't be fixed...
Yannick.

@DickcanFixit: Catalyst 9.4 is the most recent.

What you need is a DVI-D to VGA video converter. I would recommend to google Part nos. "SCA-DVI-ANA" or "SCA-DVI-ANA-UN".

The video processor no longer operates - the lines are caused by the simple operation of the timer clock of the processor. The card is dead and you must replace it.

Use the DVI port, and the VGA port on the ATI Radeon X300SE graphics card.

If you have two monitors that are LCD, and they both have a DVI connector, use a DVI to VGA adapter for the VGA port on the ATI Radeon X300SE.

[You need a Female DVI to Male VGA adapter, such as this example,

http://www.directron.com/dviadapter.html

Turn both monitors on. Right-click on an empty spot on the desktop screen. Left-click on Properties, then the Settings tab.
Left-click on the monitor icon with the 2 in it.
Go down to ->Extend my desktop to this monitor, and left-click in the box to the left of it.

Go down to the right, and left-click on Apply.
Now go over to the left, and left-click on OK.

You should now have your desktop screen on both monitors. When you open a window on your Primary monitor, (Monitor icon 1), Left-click on the frame, hold the mouse button down, and drag this screen to the Secondary monitor.

If it doesn't work this way, drag to the other side.

Yes you can but there should be an option in the monitor settings for DVI... Maybe if you go into safe mode and attempt adjusting settings for the ati for the dvi output, from what I hear that monitor is nice with the DVI option would be aa shame to lose that.

Ati radeon 7500 pci won't work with vista

Hello,

According to this site it looks like Vista doesn't have drivers. You possibly could try this XP drivers listed at this site. In order to try this I would suggest removing the failed driver from device manager and checking the box that ask if you want to remove the files.

NOTE: You will need to make sure that you are removing the correct card when you do this. If you remove the wrong driver it could disable your video output.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

what you have the ATI card hooked up can you see the boot screen? If you can see that you might want to try going into safe mode and making sure your graphics settings aren't set beyond the capability of your monitor. If you can't see the boot screen then your card might be dead.

Items In Device Manager Not Recognized By XP Hi I am hoping that someone here can help me out with problems I have with my new graphics card, I am not sure if it is a software problem or a hardware one. The computer I have was made up by a friend three years ago and I just felt it was time to upgrade my graphics card! So I got the HIS HD 4670 IceQ 1GB (128bit) 850 MHz DDR3 PCIe a few days ago and loaded it yesterday with the updates that I could find on the internet. However this morning when I started my computer I got to my desktop and while it was loading the computer rebooted itself and has been working ok since. But I got a error warning when I returned to windows and it told me to update my drivers and hardware! I also noticed that in the hardware profiles I have the following with question marks on them; ? ! PCI Memory Controller ? ! SM Bus Controller ! Unknown Device (Sound, video and game controllers) So would these three items be causing my problems or something else? Plus does anyone know how I can resolve these issues? Just in case you need to know what I have in my computer, here is what I think you might need to know; Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Super Mini Tower (With The SmartPower 2.0 450W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply) 1 Rear 120mm Tri Cool Fan AMD 64 Athlon 3200+ 3 GB of Ram 250GB Hard Drive 500 GB External Drive Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 3) And if you need any more information, please let me know can I can supply it. I appreciate anyone?s help with these problems. Thanks Mark
