Hi Fred!

F4 error on your model is a failed temperature sensor. Gotta yank it outta there and replace it. Yep.

I looked it up for you. The part number WB21X5301. You can get it from Sears (here) or your local appliance parts house. You can view a complete breakdown of all your oven here.

You'll have to pull your oven out into the kitchen and remove the back panel to do this repair. So... before doing anything, GO OUTSIDE AND TURN THE BREAKER OFF!!!! Is that clear enough? Failure to do this before you repair will result at the worst, in death or serious injury and at best a funky new hair do... something similar to Gene Wilder.

The temp sensor can be seen inside the oven cavity mounted to the rear wall. It's an 8" probe mounted with 2 screws. Remove these and let the sensor dangle. Now, around back (with the panel now removed, disconnect the sensor from the harness (you'll see it... 2 little tiny white wires). Now just remove it by pulling it out of the oven cavity.

All ya gotta do now is install the new one, connect it to the harness and rebuild everything. Total job time is about 45 minutes (at the outside).

This will get you cookin' again, so please remember to rate this solution. Show me some FixYa love! Thanks!

you might want to check where the thermometer is located on older models it can be knocked out of position perhaps to close to the roof of the oven which gives false heat reading

M# 911 4288816 s# OV609596Q showing a F-4 code...what does this mean?

F4 is an error code that flashes on Kenmore electric ovens when the oven's temperature sensor has shorted. You should check the wiring harness and replace the sensor if necessary.

Hope helps.

Kenmore front load washer (spprox 6 yrs old) will drain, but won't spin. Gives error F4

Hi.

No spin and F4 usually means that the problem is caused by a defective pressure switch.

The following is an extract from the washer service manual:

"F4" flashes and the cycle signal beeps when the recirculate pressure
switch is not working properly during the Catalyst, W ash or Soak cycle.
If "F4" is flashing, check the following:
- Plugged recirculate hose (black hose).
- Plugged or disconnected air tube (clear tube).
- Wires to the recirculate pressure switch disconnected or not
connected correctly.
- Failed recirculate pressure switch. Switch (black wire, tan wire)
contacts should be open with pressure applied and closed with
no pressure.

Try disconnecting power by tripping the circuit breaker or disconnecting power cord for five minutes. If that does not clear the error check the thin clear rubber hose connected to the pressure switch and extending into the tub. Try blowing into pressure hose and clean it. If that does not fix the problem replace the pressure switch.

To locate parts and diagrams, please enter the full model number, as witten in service tag, in this website.

Regards.

Ginko.

What does F4 on microwave display mean?

This Kenmore is made by LG for Whirlpool. Confused yet? :D

F4 means you have an open humidity sensor.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site here, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

To find helpful exploded view diagrams and get part numbers, you can just enter your full model number at the Sears parts site.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

But Sears parts can usually be obtained for far less here by entering either the part number.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Kenmore ovens flashes -F4- when I try to set it to bake? What does this mean?

Hello,

The problem likely originates from the oven temperature sensor. While not all but most manufacturer's use the "F4" code for a shorted or open sensor, you'll need to provide your model number to be certain. If you are able, check the value of the sensor, it should be approx. 1100ohms at room temperature, if not, replace it.

**Unplug the unit from the wall before performing any service**

hope that helps,

Good Luck :)

What does it mean when it flashes f4

The F4 error code on your washer indicates a problem in the electrical circuits of the washer... and not end-user repairable.
This problem requires a technician to test the wiring circuits to diagnose the problem.
