Question about HP Pavilion ze5185 Notebook

Small video image on screen and will not detect video card.

This is a used computer. I don't understand how the video card would show a small picture on the screen, but drivers will not load for the video card. I took the computer apart and am replacing the charger jack. So, I'm not sure, but maybe there was some generic vga software loaded.

Your motherboard needs to detect the card first; so get your hardware chipset drivers downloaded; then next; get the VGA drivers (latest). Here re some tips that have always worked for me:

1. Download HWINFO; this precious software will tell you everything about the chips and hardware on your system.
2. Look for the chipset name, the video card name and search for the drivers online.
3. You may have a little issue if you go to manufacturer's site as they don't keep updated drivers for older laptops. I am guessing most of the drivers you need are intel, the graphics, chipset, wifi; so go to intels driver download page; they support device drivers long after OEM manufacturers stop listing drivers.

Intel also has a driver detection software that can scan the hardware and download the drivers that are missing or need updates.

Start with HWINFO and proceed.

Are you 100% positive that you are installing the correct driver for the vga?

google "siw" and hit the first post, download it and check under PCI on the left side.

you are from there able to see what chipsetdriver you need to download. (just google for the modell when you find it under PCI)

Video images transferred to PC are not as sharp as when played back on camera LCD

How about different videos do they have the same resolution? If yes the problem here is not with the video from the camera it can be the resolution of your computer , because if the video card of your computer is not high and the resolution is also not that high video will not look sharp when play to the computer compare when play directly from the camera...

Hope that helps.........

I took pictures on my camera without a memory card can i still download my pictures

I'm glad to provide the steps to transfer images from Internal Memory of the Camera. When the camera does not have a memory card in it, the images are saved by default to the camera's internal memory, which holds different amounts of images based on how many megapixels are built into the internal memory and what image quality and compression are selected in the camera's menu. Once a memory\picture card is inserted in the camera, the camera then saves the photos to the memory\picture card and ignores the internal memory.

There are two ways to transfer the images from the internal memory.

  • To transfer photos to a computer from the internal memory using the USB cable, first remove the memory card from the camera. Then, when the camera is connected, the computer and software will only see what is in the internal memory and transfer those photos or videos. During the transfer process, the computer makes copies of the photos and videos-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the transfer is complete and the camera is safely disconnected from the computer, the contents of the internal memory can be deleted by using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

  • The other way to transfer photos from the internal memory is to transfer them to the memory\picture card using the BACKUP function in the SETUP menu. If there is no memory\picture card in the camera, the BACKUP function is grayed-out. During BACKUP, copies of the images are transferred to the memory\picture card-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the BACKUP is complete, the internal memory can be cleared by removing the memory\picture card and formatting the internal memory using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

Note: When the camera is connected to a computer using the USB cable with a memory\picture card in the memory\picture card slot, the computer will only see the contents of the memory\picture card.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any additional help.

I have a new Sony VPCJ1 series desk top. When I make a slide show, the slides are much larger than the pictures in the video file and they don't show all of the picture. what can I do. I have tried...

Are you using the laptop screen or using a larger monitor or projecting the slide show? The screen resolution on the Sony may need to be adjusted.

On my monitor screen a small dot was formed whats the problem

If the computer appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes then the computer is probably OK.
To determine if your LCD monitor or the video card is faulty, connect another monitor to your computer.
If the image is OK on the other monitor then the LCD monitor is faulty. If you also get a small dot on the other monitor then the video card is faulty and you will need to replace the video card.

Where is the video card located and what does it look like

There are two type of video adapters, a card type and integrated.

Integrated is when it is part of the motherboard. Card type is when it is a expansion card that is installed onto the motherboard.

Easiest way to tell which you have is by where you connect your monitor to your computer. If you connect by all your USB connections, mouse/keyboard connections then it is integrated...you can not replace it unless you replace the motherboard.

If you connect your monitor further away from the above mentioned, then you are most likely using a card type of video card. Here is a picture of what an installed video card would look like. The video card is the part that has the "small" fan on it. The left side of the picture is the back of the computer.

Here is a picture of an uninstalled video card.

Hope this helps you.

Does this camera use a memory card? If so, try using a separate card reader to download your pictures.
