I bought a new Acer Aspire 5100 laptop on Windows Vista which came with a Lexmark X1290 All-In-One. The Lexmark driver was for Windows XP. Per instructions of Lexmark website I deleted the XP driver. Again, per instructions, I went to website and downloaded correct driver-compatable with Vista. I saved it and now how to apply it? (How to open the new driver file and run it?). I am not too computer savvy and have spent many hours on the problem. Thank you so much for your assist. Kaarina ( [email protected])
Make sure you downloaded the correct driver file first. And that it is an EXE file, or executable as it is called. Save the file in a place you can find it, such as, in My Documents. After downloading, simply find it and then double left click to open and run it and install it. It should tell you when to plug in your printer, so leave it unplugged for the time being. The file you get from Lexmark should be called cjr1200EN.exe version 1.0.11.3. Hope this helps, let me know.
Your talking about the printer drivers I suspect can you load this up from the control panel under printers remember to turn your printer on so Vista can see it and then from the control panel under printers you should be able to load the new driver.
