Hi I have a Philips 42 " 42pf5321d/37 bought 11.06 . My av went dead cant bring up menu or anything on the screen. I unplug the set, plug it in and the green light comes on , theres a few seconds and something inside doubleclicks like it's shutting down but the light remains green. except it looks a little funny. Not as bright as usual.
I tried to reload firmware and the memory device blinks like its being read but still no nothing. Appreciate help. I have a TV guy looking at it but is there an inline fuse that may be causing this? Any help appreciated. Dave R. same thing
I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung, Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the location of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check a Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H. 2nd more of a long turn approach to your system. You might look at a Power conditioner to ensure constant clean Voltage & current to your Set,Price I know running about $150 to $200,but this will protect your set from a Spike and under voltage swings from the 110V plug.Surge protectors only help the Spikes on the 110v Line not the Drops.Hope this helps
Philipps 42 i have with screen going blank, mounted a quiet fan on back cover and it solved the problem! take off cover and run a house fan aimed at back, see if it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The picture just goes off but the sound is still on. If you turn it off for a few minutes it corrects itself - any thoughts? We previously had problems with the TV getting "stuck" on non-programmed channels - you would have to completely unplug to reset - this appears to be different
