Hi friend,
It is nothing but User friendly warning sensor
blue light keeps blinking. no - spacer.gifDonot install it sideways, under furniture or with its bottom air inletsor top outlets blocked, preventing air flowing undisturbed verticallyup. If any of these occurs, the thermo-dynamic sterilizing ceramic corewill be disconnected and the unit will not work properly. Under thesecircumstances after about one minute the anti-stress blue light willstart blinking indicating improper installation and eventualmalfunction. This warning sign prompts the user to install. Airfreeproperly. Once correctly installed after a few seconds the anti-stresslight will stop blinking.

    Cause 1

    Airfree
incorporates an automatic energy-saving feature by automatically
shutting off the ceramic core when it has reached a temperature range
to facilitate air convection (air in the room is drawn into the machine
to destroy impurities, contaminants and odors). The ceramic core shuts
down for a few minutes, the indicator light turns off, and the top
light emitting diode (L.E.D.) blinks. Airfree continues to sterilize
the air during this time. This indicates the conservation of electric
power consumption and the preservation of the ceramic core.

    Cause 2

    Another
contributory factor to Airfree's blinking occurrence is the ambient air
(air in the environment). When the ambient air reaches 95 degrees F (35
degrees Celsius), Airfree auto-regulates itself with the ceramic core
“shut off” for a few minutes but still continues with its sterilizing
activity (the blinking of the top light signals this occurrence). In
this process energy is conserved and Airfree's safety mechanism is
    enhanced.

    Cause 3

    Airfree
incorporates state of the art electronics detecting any improper
placementor device malfunctioning. If the top blue light does not stop
blinking, please ensure that your Airfree unit is in the upright
position. If the top and bottom air inlets are free of blockage, the
blinking may be due to a faulty electrical outlet. Please plug it in
into a proper outlet. If in the next 10 minutes the top light continues
blinking and your Airfree unit is correctly installed, this indicates
that the device may be malfunctioning. Please promptly contact your
    dealer in such case.

Several things to check; .

One thing to check is its very important to tip the unit upside down several times after cleaning. This often forgetten step clears the ion wires of dust and debris and restores their ability to magnetize and pull dust and debris into the unit.

It's also very possible that one of the plastic grates has somehow become dislodged. The unit is designed to only run when the fins are completely in place and the outter grates are also properly seated.

Also, It's always very important to remember that after cleaning, it's important to let the fins (my word not theirs) completely dry. Placing them back in the unit even partially wet will ruin the unit. If this is the case, you may smell smoke.

Lastly, depending on the age and use of the unit, it's possible the unit is broken. This is less likely since there really aren't a lot of moving parts but possible all the same.

Best of luck with your Ionic Breeze. Try all of the above and I'm sure your unit will function properly again.

If you press the blue light will it turn green or continue to flash blue?

  • Greg Margossian

My apologies; a blinking blue light is an overheating indicator; the machine needs to be unplugged until it cools down at which time it will work temporarily until it heats up again and will again blink blue. Unfortunately, Sharper Image went bankrupt last year and all of their stores closed, making all those with the units (myself included) out of luck as far as the warranty goes. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

My oreck magnesium keeps turning off. Blue. Light keeps blinking

THE PROBLEM SEAMS TO BE WITH THE THICKNESS OF THE CARPET AND THE PAD-ALL VACUUMS NEED TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE IF THE PAD AND THE CARPET ARE THICK THE VACUUM WILL PULL ITSELF TOWARD THE FLOOR SLOW DOWN THE BRUSHROLL ENOUGH TO TRIGGER THE AUTO SHUTDOWN ON THE MAGNESIUM BECAUSE THE VACUUM CANT BREATHE. TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL ORECK AND THEY CAN PUT A FEW HOLES IN YOUR SOLEPLATE AND THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE.

The blue light blinks

I believe that a blue blinking light indicates that the stainless steel collection blades need to be wiped clean. The unit uses these blades instead of a replaceable filter. Simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth and you should be ready to go!

The ionizers were recalled by Sharper Image due to a lawsuit that they lost forcing the company into chapter 11.

There is a thread on this website with further details.

SHARPER IMAGE AIR CLEANER HAS STOPPED WORKING, NO BREEZE COMING FROM UNIT AND BLADES ARE NEVER DIRTY. THE "ON" LIGHT IS ON.

Sharper Image no longer supports Ionic Breeze machines. They recalled them a few months back since Consumer Reports and the EPA has determined that they weren't working and can even cause health hazards during usage. Sharper Image sued an lost forcing the company in bankruptcy.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to make a decision on sales of all ionizers in the U.S. by the end of the year. It's looking like you won't be seeing these around much longer.

Blinking blue lights on top

OK so after a bit of investigating there is still HOPE!

There are no details about the blinking light except that the unit is "broken". Mine appears to still be somewhat functioning as I smell ionized air.

As you all know, Sharper Image is Bankrupt and their stores have all closed. Here's where the ray of sunshine comes in:

If you purchased the extended warranty all you have to do is call 1-866-686-2463 24 Hours 7 days a week. The gentleman who helped me confirmed the information on my original receipt so there must be some database I am registered under. I will be receiving a replacement within a week.

I will take mine apart to see if I can repair the broken unit and if I find out the problem I will post up.

Here is something for you to try...Unplug the unit and plug it back in while holding down the boost button. This seems to trigger some form of diagnostic. On Low the clean light is red and then amber in the other positions. The boost button flashes. It may do something different for you that is why I bring this up.
