Making transfers to the device can be done in either UMS or Manager mode.
UMS firmware matches with seeing the player as a removable disk in Windows Explorer and is also used for updating firmware, using iRiver PLUS software.
Manager firmware matches with iRiver Music Manager software.
When needing the Music Manager go to next site and enter the word
manager in the second column next to GO: http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302 iriver music manager ( Ver. 3.21 ) shows up: click the item and read
the instructions for download and installation.
River iFP-190T is an iFP-100 series player. The device has UMS connection type. UMS = Universal Mass Storage seeing the device as a flash drive (also called removable disk).
For music transfers and firmware upgrades iriver PLUS3 must be used. Download iriver PLUS3 going to this site: http://www.iriver.com/index.asp
Click Support on the left side.
Select Download in the second column.
Select "Download iriver PLUS3" in the page: allow download (when blocked / sometimes download has to be repeated).
try this: http://iriverinc.com/support/ultra/700.aspx (copy n paste into search bar) >>click on: iriver music manager for PC OR if you have MAC computer click on: iriver music manager for MAC >>then click on: iriver manager 3.16 >> click on RUN NOT SAVE -even though it says click on SAVE, it WILL NOT WORK >> it will then begin installing >>click on: RUN a second time if nessecerly >> then click on the iriver icon on your desktop and plug your mp3 player into your computer
I just reinstalled my IFP-799 on Windows XP. I installed the iRiver music manager v3.16 software first.
and then when complete I plugged in my IFP-799. The new hardware wizard started trying to install it and for some odd reason it failed. I then went to Start-Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager and saw a yellow triangle next to iRiver Internet Audio Player IFP-799. I double-clicked on that and it said the driver was not installed properly but showed a button to click on the install. I clicked that and a popup box came up with a choice to install automatically. I clicked on Yes and the hardware manager correctly installed the driver that time.
Sorry but I don't know how to install this if you have some other Windows version however the website I listed will have the instructions.
