Was connected but now I'm Not!

I was connected to my router but i can not connect now. I was trying to set my router up with another compuer and now my setting for my computer are now gone.  I try resetting it up but that does not work.  The lap tops don't see the wireless connection.  eventhough it is sending one out.  I can not reconfigure the router online like dell help me using my submask #.  What should I do.  It is not even making a contection thourgh the ethernet cable.

Re: Was connected but now I'm Not!

About JZeke comment... I found the solution. By resetting the router, I was able to utilize the default public connection "wireless" to access the web configuration utility program for the router and re-establish my secure network connection.

I think this is a setup error.

What kind of router do you have? Also can you connect to the router with a wired connection?

After you answer those questions I will give you some troubleshooting steps.

We had a storm Monday night. I have ATT internet and a Linksys WRT54G Router. Called Att and they got me back online, but if I try to use the router I can't get online. Not sure if there are some settings...

1. Try connecting using an Ethernet cable.

2. Reset the router and try connecting again

3. Open an internet browser, in the address bar type and see if it connects

4. If you cannot connect to the router, try a different Ethernet port in the router.

5. If you can connect to the router, look for a "restore factory settings" button

6. Reset your router's password and connect to the internet

My compuer crashed now i can"t get router to work

Reset the router.Here is how:

Step 1 With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset.

Step 2 Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release.

Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure.

Step 3 The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset.

Resetting the router does not reset the firmware to an earlier version. It will change all settings back to factory defaults.

Note: The factory defaults username is admin, and there is no password.

Verizon AGT704WG modem/router conflicts w/ T-Mobile WRTU54G-TM

your Verizon AGT704WG is a gateway, meaning, it's a modem that has router functions (wireless, support for multiple pc's etc.). If you want to connect your T-Mobile wireless router, it would cause certain conflicts with your Verizon 704WG because it is also a wireless router. That's why you can't configure it.

So, if you want to connect your T-Mobile wireless router, you would have to set up your 704WG first to BRIDGE MODE. Which means you would have to disable its routing functions so that only the T-Mobile will function as your router and will not cause any conflict.

If you want to set your GT704WG to bridge mode, follow these steps.

1. Hardwire (connected using ethernet cable) your compuer to your 704WG.
2. On your Internet Explorer or Firefox, type in (default address for your GT704WG). You will then see a verizon page which is the configuration page of your gateway (for newer modems, the background is usually red and black).
3. When prompted, enter username and password. default username is ADMIN, password is PASSWORD or if you've called Verizon tech support, password would be ADMIN (lower case).
4. Click on the MY NETWORK icon from the top bar.
5. Click NETWORK CONNECTIONS from the left navigation box.
7. Under the VC’s section, click the EDIT icon.
8. Select BRIDGE on the PROTOCOL drop down box.
9. Select ROUTED BRIDGE in the BRIDGE MODE field.
10. Click on APPLY and then click on YES to confirm reset.

You would notice that the wireless light on your gt704WG will be off. That's ok because that would indicate that your modem is in bridge mode.

Powercycle (turn off modem for 30 secs and turn it back on) your Actiontec.

That should do it. Good luck.

Modem problem

1.the ip address on the modem is a static ip from your isp but make sure that the compuer ip is in specification of the isp ordained by your isp except you are using dhcp for ip assignment.
