Question about Remington Smooth and Silky WDF-5500 Electric Shaver

1 Answer

The razor doesn't function fast enough

I've had this razor for maybe 6 months and the it doesn't seem to be holding a charge any more. When I place it back on the charger, the green light lights up, but no matter how many days I wait for it to charge, it always seems to be nearly dead. I wanted to replace the batteries, but I don't know if this is even possible. Do I have to buy another?

Yes, you can replace these batteries. Do an internet search and you'll probably quickly find a source.

Just bought one of these and it seems like it doesn't hold a charge it goes pretty good and thanafter 15 mins so slow??

Battery powered vehicles like scooters and golf carts have trouble going up hill because smaller electric engines aren't powerful enough or made for nothing more than flat land. You could have a bad battery or the battery isn't being charged enough. I know someone that has a golfcart and it takes approximately 48 hours to charge full. You may want to check the manual about charging times.

What's your problem?I

Batteries for your shaver are 1.2V. If you have instaled it properly with good solder connections it sounds like there may be a problem with the board

Doesn't seem to hold a charge anymore. I have not used it in about 6 months.

There may be an issue with one of the control circuits in the unit, I'd recommend calling VXi at 800-742-8588 for repair warranty option information.

I have charged my MX 500 dirt rocket for 24 hours and the charger still is red. I took it off the charger and the back wheel went, but not going fast enough to stay up with both my feet off. When I hold...

The battery is probably bad. If a battery is fully discharged it can damage one of the cells in the battery. If you can replace the bad cell then it should charge correctly. Many of these batteries are made to be hard to open up and are hard to repair when they are opened. My best solution is to replace the battery and if that doesn't help then the charger is bad. When the charger is replaced then if both batteries are good then you will have a spare. I hope this helps.

Shaver suddenly stopped working

I had the same problem with mine right after the two year warranty expired.

BUT I FIXED IT!!!

The problem seems to be bad engineering. Apparently the cleaning solution works its way into the circuit board of the shaver.

I took the razor apart (you need very small phillips screwdrivers), there are six screws. First remove the foils, then the blades (just pull them up). Two screws are where the head rotates. after removing the head, there are two more screws underneath the head. There are two more screws on the bottom under plastic caps beside the charging terminal. You can now gently slide the razor's hardware out of the case by pulling up on the head mounting arms while holding the case as you normally would shaving. (This sounds confusing but should be obvious as you do it.)

Looking at the circuit board i noticed some white residue on the board. I gently cleaned the board with small amount of alcohol and q-tips, being careful not to catch any cotton on the components of the board. At this point you can at least confirm that the motor is not burnt out and the batteries are charged by placing a flathead screwdriver between the positive terminal of the battery and the motor. It should come on if the motor and batteries are okay.

Next you hit the reset button at the bottom-front, then see if it comes on using the on/off button. You can do this step with the razor disassembled or assembled.

Hopefully this works for you. Now if only i could figure out a way to clean and refill the cartridges instead of paying $5 for 5 cents worth of cleaning fluid.
