If you have more than 1 audio card you have to tell your computer which parts of the various cards to use for different purposes.

you need to go into control panel and check your sound and multimedia settings, you should then be able to "steer" your computer into using the correct devices

Sound drivers

It sounds like it has been turned off in your windows setting. If this is the case it is an easy fix, Right click My Computer, left click properties, left click the hardware tab, left click device manager, scroll down to sound, video and game controllers and left click on + to open the drop down menu, Any devices that have a little red x on it right click on it an enable device or hardware after re-enabling everything restart your computer and this should fix it, If this does not fix the problem check that your audio device has not been switched off inadvertently in Bios. If your audio device is still active within BIOS it is most likely that the sound card has failed or needs the drivers re-installed. I hope this helps.

No sounds coming from my computer

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers or uninstall
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
also
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer
make sure you have an earth ******** before touching any parts inside your computer
hope this helps

No sound on my computer

you could try a number of things:

1. try to go into control panel and look for your sound device under hardware, make sure it's "enabled", and try to update the drivers for your sound card.
2. go to control panel, click on sound speech and audio devices, then click on adjust system volume, and then check the box that says place volume icon in the taskbar
3. If neither work try using the system restore feature and restore your computer back to a date where u know that the sound icon was still showing in the taskbar.

Sound

If No sound
Try this solution :

- Make sure the speakers are connected, powered, and turned up.
- Make sure the volume is up and not muted in the Windows volume control and Windows sound mixer.
- Make sure sounds are enabled in the Multimedia/Sounds applet in Control Panel.
- Check audio connectors. Make sure they are in the right jacks and free from damage.
- Run SFC.
- Check Device Manager for an installed sound card.
- Install or reinstall the sound driver.
- Try a known good sound card.
- Update your soundcard driver from internet, you can check http://driverguide.com

If Bad sound
Try this solution :

- Check the audio connectors. Make sure they are in the right jacks and free from damage.
- Run SFC.
- Enable or disable digital sound playback in the sound card properties in Device Manager.
- Check to see if the sound card is next to the video card. If so, try separating them.
- Reinstall the sound driver.
- Check for a BIOS update. Some BIOS updates allow a computer to run cooler, especially laptops.

You can install your sound card from the mainboard cd that came with your laptop or computer.

All the best
