Rear door won't stay shut

Turning a corner rear door flew open can't get it to stay shut, had to bunge it.Tried slaming it still won't close. Local dealer wants $50.00 just to look at it. Out of warranty. It has 340,000 miles. This is the only major thing that's happened, besides normal wear and tear. Rear driverside door wont stay shut. I won't latch, turned a corner and the door flew open. Now it won't stay closed.

sometimes the latch gets tripped with the door open... try pushing the button or turning the key in the latch to make sure the latch is open to accept the latch point on the body...

Check the latch mechanism on the door. There is a piece of the latch that closes around the clasp on the door frame. sometimes this closes when the door is open and you can't shut the door. Take a screw driver and flip this latch piece open and close the door.

On mine the latch was open but would not close around the peg when I tried to shut the door. After messing with it several times it finally started working again. I added some lubricant and am hoping it will stay shut until I can have it looked at by a body shop.

Keep it lubed Mary. It will probably keep working.

Rear passenger door won't stay closed

Door latch on door itself is in closed position if it will not close at all. In this case, open door and pull outside handle hard to pop open door latch. If you have door opening at random, door latch needs replacing or door catch on body is loose.

I have a 2000 dodge caravan sport. My rear windows will not open. I have changed the switch and they opened (the front windows work just fine and the door locks too) but the rear window will not close...

sounds more like the wiring in drivers door faulty- worked to open after you changed it - but won't close it now- remove door panel- unplug and replug switch and try it- could be as simple as that

Rear window will not opperate as wellas the rear

if the back door opens up like a hatch back. Check the rubber boot in the corner. Pull rubber boot back and inside there are wires. From the continous open and closing effect breaks the wires. Check in there and see how you go
