Question about Sony SNCRZ25N Network Camera

Open Question

Sony SNC RZ 25N does not accept power any longer

The Sony SNC RZ 25N camera does not accept power from the 120V AC adapter that has worked and still works. The camera appears sealed thoroughly so a casual repair may not be possible. Any suggestions? It is not on warranty and I understand the Sony Repair facility is in PA and the camera is in Sedona AZ.

Thank you for considering the question.

Do you mean the camera won't power-up? How do you know the transformer is good?

SOURCE: Vertical Black line on display

Rakesh, You have a "dual scan" panel, this is why the line only decends down the screen half-way. This could be a connection problem on the buffer board which causes loss of the drive signal only to that part of the display which it is connected to. The vertical address buffer will be located on the top rear of the display, use great caution in inspecting these cables and connectors. If the integrity of the cable and connector is good the panel itself may be bad due to the drive IC being located on the ribbon cable attached to the panel body. this is better known as COF or, chip-on-film technology. I hope this helps you. Good luck. Joe Weibel CustomElectronics.Org

SOURCE: Power button stuck down for good

I have this same problem. I've had the camera for 3 years, and never had a problem until yesterday. The power button stuck down. leaving the camera on. Since I couldn't get it fixed, I decided I'd take out the batteries until I wanted to use it again. I put the batteries in 20 minutes later, and it wouldn't come back on.

I work for a photographer, so I took it in to have him see if he could fix it. He could not. He took the camera apart and said the shutter button and the power button are both connected to the same computer board. He saw no way to fix it besides sending to Sony. I haven't gotten an estimate yet, but my warranty and extended warranty have expired...I'm bitter about it!! They shouldn't have made that type of power button, and from now on I'll know to look for that.

If anyone gets a fix, let me know!!

SOURCE: Sony DCR-TRV30 Error Code 31:23

First, you have to disassemble the camcorder to get to the mechanism. Then once you get the mechanism separated from the rest of the unit, the cassette basket or tape loading mech has to be removed. Once you remove that, there is a dress panel with the tape sense LED attached that will have to be reomoved. Behind the dress panel is a swing gear that drives the reels. The swing gear depends on friction from a clutch behind the gear (but it's part of the gear). the reason it stops working is that the clutch wears out so the gear won't swing and engage the reels (Sony calls it a "gooseneck gear" p/n X-3950-364-1) Replace the gooseneck gear and that SHOULD take care of your problem. Also check to make sure the reelshaven't been bent, this sometimes happens if you "misload" a tape. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

I have 2 sony snc-rz30N cameras that recently can not be seen on the network. They are all pluged in however the network light on the camera does not come on.

Check the 12 Volt AC adapters for correct levels. Connect one computer ONLY to the cameras on the Ethernet and see if you can communicate. Verify you get composite video from the BNC jack. Check your router.

Use Sony ICF-C1IPMK2 in Europe

A transformer type (Linear Mode Power Supply) AC to DC power adapter with a 9.V nominal output, measures about 12.V without load when tested with a multimeter. A power adapter with a nominal output of 7.5 V, measures a little over 9.V. Considering a number of people across different forums reported the adapter's measured power output as 12.V, I think the nominal rating of the AC to DC adapter should be 9.V. However, keep away from Switch Mode Power Supplies.
