I have an LG42PB tv with no picture or sound but it makes a hissing noise from the speakers. Also, there doesn't seem to be any response from all other buttons at the bottom of the tv

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

Hissing noise horizontal lines

Hello erl, hi.... the hissing noise is usually caused by high voltage arching, but this is suppose to be soft. if the hissing is unusually loud, the high voltage transformer clip cap may be loose, this may cause the horizontal line you see on the screen. take precaution when dealing with this.... here are steps that may help..

1. unplug the unit. allow around 5 minutes for all voltages inside the unit drops to a safe level.
2. open the back cover. place the monitor face down on a table with a dry clean rug or towel.
3. locate the picture tube. on the top side you will see a wire with a cap at the end.
4. use or wear a cloth glove and feel if the cap is loose. re clip the cap and make sure it is secured.
5. replace the back cover.

Is there any problems with the brakes besides the noise? If theyre acting up, it could be your brake booster. It's hard to determine without more specific details, brakes always make a quiet hissing noise, depends on where, how loud, how the pedal feels...

There is a hissing noise in back of tv and picture goes on and off zenith d36d51

Hissing noise and picture on and off means faulty flyback transformer, it has a small crack and voltage is leaking out, replace the flyback, if tv still not working replace horizontal output transistor (broken flyback could blow the transistor).

Hissing noise in freezer

When you observe this is your compressor quiet? Then most likely your refrigerator is in defrost mode. The water is coming off the evaporator (think of a very cold radiator) as the defrost heater element warms. This element is similar to the electric heating element in the bottom of your electric oven. the water hits it and it will hiss. This is part of the normal operation of a refrigerator. The defrost cycle usually lasts from 20-30 mins and will occur 4-6 times a day. If you are having trouble with frozen food melting then re-freezing, or the temps are on the warm side, you might need to have your defrost timer or defrost termination switch looked at.

PROBLEMS WITH VERTICAL ROLL

That is not a vertical roll from side to side, this is a horizontal rolling. if the vertical had a roll it would be going from top to bottom. This is most likely a coupling between the horizontal sync circuit and the sync separator circuit. Good Luck
