Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore 400 series dryer. It is about two years old. I had an original issue of when the timer goes around to off it never reached off and the dryer kept running thus not signaling for my wife to remove the clothes. So, once she finally remembered to check the clothes, needless to say they were dry and HOT! Here is my problem now. When I press the start button;the dryer does not start. Can you help me with a few suggestions? Thank you.

Sounds like your orginal problem was a blocked vent or kinked vent hose. Which in turn probably caused the thermal limt to burn out. It is located on the back and looks like a small piece of white plastic with two wires on it. part number 3392519 1-877-262-1479 Take the back cover off and look on the blower housing

Replace timer, if you are sure that it is not working.
Do an internet search for kenmore driver parts and get dozens of hits.

My 400 series Kenmore dryer's timer is not working

if the timer will not advance through the cycles and the dryer is getting hot try the timed setting not the sensed setting and if the problem continues on the sensed side only it is not the timer it is the sensor , the sensor is what senses the temperature inside the dryer that is what advances the timer on the sensed side it could be that the timer could be good and the sensor be bad try that

Have a kenmore series 70 dryer. Won't shut off

Yes it deffinetley sounds like you may have a timer issue, if your timer stops and the dryer is running, or if the timer keeps going around and around this will be the problem, however there are thermostats inside the dryer and if you have it set on a HEAT and not a TIMED setting the thermostats won't advance the timer because they havent been set.Hope this helps

Thanks.

Sears Kenmore Dryer 400 series won't start

Just some advice on the electrical components behind the machine. The thermal fuse (the long white fuse) should read continuity. set your meter to beep and it should beep. same goes with the thermal cut-off that's above the heating element, and same goes with the element. if it doesn't start, it's probably a thermal fuse. Good luck :) email me if you need help. appliance800@yahoo.com

Kenmore 80 series- wont shut off

it sounds like the timer is bad; expensive
also, the only way to get out something that fell into the blower box it to unplug the dryer and reach into the exhaust hole and try to reach it from there and if that fails then you have to take apart the machine.

Dryer making very loud noise.

We had the exact same noise all of a sudden start coming from our 2 year old dryer. We checked everything, rollers, pulleys, motors, etc. I was certain it was coming from the upper left. Finally we found a loose screw had fallen into the front felt ring. Problem solved!
Good luck.
