My 1986 lincoln town car only has 35,108 original miles on it. I drove it 45 miles and now it won't start. I let the gas get really low and was told to reset a button in the trunk but it still won

Loose gear shifter, have a hard time finding gears. how do i fix

check the bolts on the linkage going from the column to the transmission. probably just need tightening. (generally the bolt ON the transmission shift plate that connects into the transmission shaft is loose) Probably takes a 10 mm socket

I have a 94 lincoln town car.The gear shift wont go into gear. Nothing but play in the whole linkage

look under the hood on the firewall where the shift linkage comes through, the most likely cause is the rod popped off and needs to be re attached

Im going to buy a lincoln but i am sceptical because when you go to put in park you you have to slam it or it wont go into park how much does it caust to fix that?

It may just be a linkage adjustment OR maybe worse. Have a shop or transmissionn shop check it for you, whatever it costs, it will be less than a headache over a used car with a bad trans.

1994 town car put new air bags on it in the rear and all it is doing now is blowing the fuse under the hood for the copressor. my son drove it about 60 miles with a blown air bag i think the compressor is...

The compressor was running full time when the air bag was blown out. It probably fired the compressor. They are designed to run intermittently.

you may have broken the shifter cable somehow or it's possible the transmission is just broken internally.

Car wont go in gear

you have a problem with posibly witht he adjustment on you neutral switch. the transmission has this to prevent starting in gear. it obviosly works fine in newtral so it needs to be adjusted or the lever on your transmission needs adjust ment to allow this sensor to do its job

So i went to the mechanic and it turns out theres a few bolts under the steering wheel under the dash one of mine fell out causing the gear shifter to become loose but the hard part was taking the dash apart thats all it was and thankfully it was an easy fix
