Missing lens cap for coolpix 5700

I need one of two things....
1-a lens cap for the 5700.....maybe a dead camera in a trash bin laying around? (fat chance!)
2- accurate dimmensions of lens cap to have one fabricated...this one hold on by pressure gizzmos to inside of tele tube...but is actually is about 60mm in diam.

Help!

My Nikon Coolpix L100 flashes a lens cap error

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

NIKON COOLPIX

The Camera displays lens error only when it's unable to retract or expand. This usually happens when the internal Hardware that controls the lens fails or any dust particle settles around the lens. In this case, just give slight bumps to the Camera against your palm. If the issue persists then service will be required.

My camera will not take a picture unless lock button is held

Had this problem two weeks ago. On the road to recovery, changing the purpose of the function button seems to have helped me - <Menu>, <Set-up1>, <Controls>, <Func.> Change chosen option away from the top one (User Setting). I found the third one down with the flash symbol least confusing. Then <Set> and <Menu> button to escape from the menus.

Having done all this the camera will take pictures again without pressing the lock button. However, I'm not convinced the func. button works as described in the manual. Hope this helps?

It sounds like you have settings set improperly.

But it could be related to this:

at the back of the camera next to the view finder (bottom right hand corner) is a button and icon marked SEL. pressing this button toggles the lens image from the view finder to the lcd screen and back again. IF neither view is available then I suspect your camera needs some TLC at a repair shop. hope this helps.

Washed out photos with lines running through them

My Coolpix 5700 just started doing the same thing. I reached Nikon at 1-800-645-6689, they said there is a service recall for this known defect. They will repair at no cost to you under warranty. Call them for help, but be prepaired to be on hold for a long time. GOOD LUCK.
