Question about HP Officejet Pro K5400n - - colour - ink-jet - A4 - 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi - up to 36 ppm
Another solution, is like me, you may have accidentally unplugged the cord that goes from the computer to the printer, while changing inks. After plugging it back in, voila, the printer was back on line. :-)

If you are one a Mac, I may be able to help, as this happens to me. Sometimes when I send a print job, the printer shows as offline. HP recommends turning the printer off and then back on, but this did not always correct the problem. Go the the Printer Queue, click on the print job and then click on Pause Printer. Count to 10, then click on Resume. This fixes the problem for me and the printer then prints the job. I am running OS X 10.5.7. This same problem occurred using OSX 10.4.x
