There are 3 reasons your amplifier will go into protect mode.

1. Short circuit - blown speaker, power wire or strand touching ground, poor chassis ground on amplifier

2. Thermal/Overimpedence shutdown - a speaker connected is below the minimum inpedence of the amplifier.... or the amplifier is overheated.

3. The amplifier has a blown channel, power supply, or other internal failure. If this is the case, your amplifier will need repair by a professional with access to an oscilloscope, and proficiency in repairing amplifiers.

Audiobahn is no longer in business - however MOST of the FETs, diodes etc. are off the shelf and available to most repair shops... the problem will be obtaining the repair schematic because Audiobahn is no longer in business - you will need to find a shop in your area that repairs mainly Car Amplifiers so he knows what he's doing and looking for.

The only End User check is to...

Remove all wires and RCAs from the amplifier.

Attach ONLY the power and ground wires.

Jumper the Remote wire to the + terminal of the amplifier with a short piece of wire.

(IF the fault remians at this point - there is an internal circuitry problem)

If the amplifier powers on - and does not go into protection, remove the jumper and attach the normal remote wire.

If the amplifier STILL powers on properly - attach the RCAs.

If still operating without fault - power down, and check the output with a different known working speaker.

Be sure your subwoofer is wired to the proper impedence for the amplifier's rating (most are 1 or 2 ohm mono minimum).

Also check that your voicecoil(s) read the proper impedence.

If you reply, using the "Continue with this expert" option, with your Amplifier model # and Subwoofer - I can tell you the minimum impedence and if it is hooked up properly.

I have been in car audio for over 17 years and own my own shop.

Thanks!!

Take the cap out and just wire the amp to the battery (fused of course!). Disconnect the speakers and see if it does it. It sounds like a speaker wire could be shorting. Also checking power and ground is a good idea.

Xtc 7500w amp

The amp might be on protection mode when both subs are driven...sign of an overloading problem. Does it work fine at lower volume levels? Check also the amp's supply voltage if it fluctuates out of tolerance level...might also be a loose connection in the wiring or terminals in the supply rails.

Amp on but no sound

Double check all of your fuses and make sure they are the corrects AMP. Other than that it sounds like the speaker wires came loose somewhere along the line. check on the subs and behind the deck. hope this helps

My Harmon kardon is stuck in protect mode

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Double check all connections .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. Worth fixing.

Hello i have a clarion vrx785bt head unit it is stuck on amp protec mode i have tried the headunit in my other automobile is there a bulit in amp in this radio? if so what steps can i take to resolve this...

sounds like the IC amp in the head unit is shorted and the unit is in protect mode.
you would need to send it into clarion for replacement or repair unless you can find a local tech to replace the IC for you and reset the unit

Stuck in protection mode tried everything voltage good wires good ground good open/close button dosen,t help me at all love amp please help

everything you've tryed is useless(with respect) because amp has shorted output transistors one or more and amp is in protection mode to protect your amp from further damage.take it to repair shop or try to locate blown transistor yourself.good luck

Autotek XS-900.4 stuck in protect mode

Hi.

The amp does not go on protection only because of wiring or power source problem , but also and mainly when there is an internal fault.

Protection is started whenever an out-of range voltage value is detected from the controller circuit.

Protection can be triggered from a burnt final IC or from a speaker wiring problem.

Since you have ruled out speake, wiring and power source problems, then this Amp is probably defective

If the Amp works fine on a different vehicle, then protection mode may start either because speakers impedance is not within Amp specs, or because the amp has a too big power draw. In this last case the problem is fixed installing a capacitor on the Amp 12V line.

Regards.

Ginko.

Amp went to protect mode and will not reset to green.

Be sure the rca's are not getting severly pinched or worse you drilled a screw into them.

Second make sure your connecting the RCA's to the
1. OUTPUT of the radio
2. INPUT of the amp

if you connect any other way its wrong and could damage both radio and amp especially you screw into the RCA's your sending 12 AC Volts to ground.

How do i reset my Denon udra m1o tuner amp from protect mode?

Protect mode can not be "reset". This mode means that a problem was detected in the final amp stage and the unit has been shutdown to prevent further damage. The most common cause of this is failed output transistors. Plan on a parts cost in the $20-$20 range for this repair.

My sharp Stereo is stuck in '' protect'' mode

Protect mode is not something that a reset will fix. Basically it indicates that there is a problem with the final output stage of the amplifier. Normally this indicates that the output transistors are defective. In most boomboxes, the amplifier is a single IC. If you can post the model number, I can provide you with the required part and cost.

Thanks,
Dan

Denon AVC1530 Amplifier Protection mode

Protection means that the output stage of the amp has detected a problem. Usually this is because there is DC present on the speaker line indicating blown outputs. Figure on $25-$45 for parts plus the local labor rate for the repair.
