remove front cover on Gigabeat F40, remove battery. on back of battery a spacers remove those and replace with thinner spacers. I used hi quality insulation tape three layers of and stick back onto battery. Install battery again and it will have fixed the problem. Did it with mine
To transfer music files to your gigabeat, simply connect it to the PC via USB cable. A gigabeat window will pop up on your screen and will direct you to WMP 11 (make sure to click the "Complete" button, or it will not take you to WMP 11). Once you're in WMP 11, assemble the list of music you wish to transfer and press "Sync". The program will automatically begin transferring data to your gigabeat.
try uploading them to your "realplayer",Windows Media Player,ETC, then once they are "loaded" into your Play list, you can,Burn,Rip,Share, and download to almost anything
I just solved the same problem yesterday. When you download the firmware, save it to yur desktop and burn a CD because the gigabeat won't get it unless there is an actual CD in the rom.
Now, connect the gigabeat to the computer and let the firmware install. The unit will automatically restart twice. Here's the tricky part. You have to hold down the start button on the device until you see the start screen. (It took awhile for me to figure that out!)
After I saw the start screen, I saw that all my files were there! YAY
You do not have enough room on your computer hard drive. In Windows XP, try a Disk Cleanup. This can happen when you've got a system more than a year or two old, and want to copy the whole 30GB or so.
There is a little battery cut of switch at the bottom of the device. You can unbend a paper clip and switch it off. Then switch it back on after a few seconds. Plug it back into the usb cable to charge it. It should work ok now.
