    Hi ametehan

The screw is unscrewed and defective drive has been taken out. The replacement drive came without bezel or the faceplate. The problem is how to take out bezel from old and reassemble on new. As I see, all clips of bezel are not inserted without taking apart the cover of new drive, which I do not wish, as I am scared about causing any damage to new drive. So how to assemble the bezel on CW-8123-C safely?

    thx & regards

SOURCE: Drive can't read DVD

Jeff - If you have not changed your software configuration in any way since the last time you could successfully play a DVD, it could be that the drive has failed. You can test this most easily by taking these DVD's that won't play in your Acer now, and play them in another good computer, or a regular home DVD player. If they play in your other systems/players, you will see right away. And if the machine is that new, you might be able to get it easily fixed under your manfuacturer's warranty.

If you have made any kind of changes to your system software that could affect your dvd burner, that could cause it to not recognize them perhaps, as well. By changes I mean - installing some kind of alternative dvd playing software than what came with your machine, etc. If you did not make any software changes, it is likely a hardware problem.

How to remove the screen from the y510

The thin plastic 'frame' in the front of the LCD screen, is the Display Bezel.

Goes by many names. Display Bezel is used by HP.

Display Mask, LCD Bezel, LCD Panel Bezel, and LCD Front Bezel, are a few other examples.

Lenovo/IBM uses LCD Front Bezel.

Lenovo doesn't show an HMM for the IdeaPad's, other than for the S9e series, and S10e series, (Notebook), plus the A1-07 series. (Tablet)
(Hardware Maintenance Manual)

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/SupportSearchResults.page?searchText=ideapad+hmm

(An HMM is a Service Manual)

I also see there are no guides posted by users.

Therefore we'll have to 'wing it', using my years of experience with repairing laptops, and you as the tech.

1) Do you see any screw covers on the LCD Front Bezel?

May not be the usual synthetic rubber covers. May be plastic, and the same plastic, and color as the LCD Front Bezel.

Example,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-broken-lcd-screen-lenovo-x60s-laptop/

Scroll down to the photos in Steps 1 and 2.

Also note the 'seals' on the side of the Display Assembly, shown in Step 2 photo.

We'll start with this.

2) Haven't worked on a Y510, and perusing the internet; it seems no one has found a solution, for removing the LCD Front Bezel off of an IdeaPad Y510.

{ ALL power removed before beginning. Remove the AC adapter
(Charger), and Battery }

3)
A) There is no sticky double-sided tape holding it on.

B) Can't simply 'pop' it off, as with other Display Bezels, that do not use Philips head screws to hold it on.

[ For all Display Bezels, (Other than this baby, perhaps), there are locking tabs on the outside edges of the Display Bezel.

These match up to snap locks, on the inside edge of the Display Cover. (Top cover of laptop)
When the Display Bezel is removed, the locks snap loose ]

C) I suggest remove the screws which hold the Display Assembly to the laptop, and see if at the bottom of the Display Assembly, there are screw covers, or just screws, to remove.

If there are, and no other screw covers/screws to remove, the LCD Front Bezel should pop off.

This is what I mean by pop off,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-screen-on-lenovo-g560-laptop/

Step 2 and 3.

{ The laptop is made by Wistron. (Philippines) One of the three major laptop manufacturers, that makes laptops for ALL laptop brand manufacturers.
Such as Acer, Compaq, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Asus, you name it }

I need to replace the LCD screen on my Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8828. Can you provide step by step guide with photos or a video?

Replacing LCD is not a big deal. Just follow these steps:-

1. Unplug your laptop and remove the battery pack.

2. Locate the rubber screw covers around your laptop screen. There are typically four, but some models may have more.

3. Remove the screw covers. Take care not to lose any. They pop off.

4. Place your fingers between the front bezel (the plastic piece around the LCD screen) and the screen. Gently work your way around the screen to remove the front bezel and expose the screen assembly.

5. Remove the inverter from the screen assembly. It is held on by tape in most models. To disassemble the screen, you will need to either unscrew the screen from its metal holder, or just lift the screen out.

6. Disconnect the wires. One wire goes to the backlight, while the other goes to the video card.

7.Use exact serial no. LCD for exact replacement.

8. Connect the video wire and the backlight wireand affix it using the tape that held the original in place.

9. Put the screen back in place if you need to, and snap the front bezel back on.

10. Screw the front bezel screws back in, and place the screw covers back in place.

Hope they work for you. All the best

Anyone replace the inverter on an Acer Aspire 6920?

I haven't replaced an inverter on this model before, but have done on a few other makes.
Generally the inverter is located on the bottom edge of the LCD screen behind the bezel.
The bezel is secured with screws on the front and or the edges of the bezel. these screws in most cases are hidden by small round plastic covers, they need to be carefully peeled off to reveal the screws. Also the bezel is held in place with plastic clips and double sided tape. Slip a thin metal strip between the screen and the bezel and carefully pop the bezel off, start at the bottom edge and work along each edge to release the bezel. Be careful not to scratch the LCD screen and be careful not to apply pressure to the face of the LCD screen otherwise you will crack the LCD screen.

Removing on/off bezel on Acer 6920G

I haven't worked with this particular model, but the Acer laptops I've seen have a snap-in bezel. Use your fingernail to lift the end, then gently pull up towards the center, using a fingernail along the front edge to pry it up if needed. If it's really tight, use a miniature screw driver to start it and a toothpick to keep it from snapping back into place.

Once you get the ends loose, close the display most of the way, then use your fingernail to pop loose the hinge cover sections of the bezel. Open the display and tilt it back far enough so the bezel can be pulled up past the hinges.

As you continue to lift the bezel strip, you may need to push the front of the it towards the back of the case just a little bit to disengage the front hooks. Take your time - the hooks are small and rushing things can break them. If you feel a snag, look for a screw at that point. If there isn't one, try a small amount of twisting (no more than a couple of millimeters) at the snag point. The hooks generally face away from the centerline of the bezel.

Hp pavillion dv6-1030us just order my new screen how do i take the front and back bezel off looking for a video link not finding all the screws on front thanks

The procedure to replace the display is outlined in the maintenance and service guide.

Refer to the Display Assembly beginning on page 81 for the "complete" disassembly instructions.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01758220.pdf

The maintenance guide gives you step by step procedures to remove the monitor and most importantly... how to remove the bezel "properly".

Removing headuint jeep wrangler 2009

You need to remove the top dash panel and front bezel before you can access the head unit.
  1. Remove the top dash cover by prying up near the windshield side. There are two clips holding it in place near the back, and you can rotate it forward and off.
  2. Remove the lower panel of the center bezel (just in front of the shifter) but pulling gently from the bottom. It is held in by clips only.
  3. You can then remove four bolts that hold the center section in. After you do this, gently release the panel. There are about six clips holding it in place.
  4. Once you have removed the bezel, you can remove the four bolts around the head unit and slide it forward.

Power on button for hp a305w

Hello,

Here is a manual that explains how to remove the front bezel. Please follow only steps 1 - 8 and 14 - 18. The rest of the steps are not necessary for this issue.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00225826.pdf

After you have the front bezel disconnected, I would suggest checking the button on the bezel for debris that may be blocking it from making good connection (ie. dust or fuzz) which can be cleaned by a vacuum cleaner hose or compressed air can.

This may also be a good time to test and see if the actual button on the case works correctly with the front bezel removed. You will need to follow steps 17 - 18 to reconnect the machine to power. You should see a small metal button in the lower center of the case that should be the power button. It may be somewhat recessed so you may need to press it with a pencil or something. If you have trouble finding this, you can lean the bezel against the chassis and you should be able to locate it by matching where the power button is on the bezel to the chassis.

If the machine starts ok, you will need to let the machine start completely and then do a normal shutdown using the Start button and choosing Shut down or turn off depending on your operating system. After you have verified that everything is OK with that, follow steps 1 - 2 to disconnect from power again.

Now you should be able to follow steps 14-18 to put the side and front back on and connect to power.

Thanks
