Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator (GS5SHAXNLOO) Ice maker not running, some ice in maker melted together

Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator (GS5SHAXNLOO), I had the ice maker replaced under warranty (at the time the repair guy told me the ice makers are flawed on this model). It has been about 2 years and the ice maker just stopped working again. Any suggestions (other than buy a new part?) Wife turned off the ice making switch inside icemaker. Next day she turned it on but nothing has happened. No filling, no ice, etc. I can feel some ice in part of the maker but none in the other slots further back. Ice feels melted together. Thinking of turning off fridge and blowing hot air into ice maker to melt ice. Has anyone else had to do this to get it running again?
