Question about ViewSonic VA721 17" LCD Monitor
My problem is that the monitor turns on and then off then the light turns on but the screen stays blank and it says no signal HELP ME OUT i think it may be that the video cable supply does not work or it might be the video card When I start up my computer, the monitor works and shows the Dell start up screen and whether or not I want to start it in safe mode. Then it gets to my password screen and the monitor turns off. It says no signal and the image turns off but the light stays green. I can enter my password and press enter and hear the computer log on but no image on the monitor. If I start the computer in safe mode, the image comes up like normal. How do I fix this so the image comes up in normal run mode!?
Sounds like the operating mode is at a frequency or refresh rate that is outside the viewsonic operating specifications when in normal mode. possible solution: in safe mode access control panel, system, devices (hardware) and look for display. do a right click and uninstall. repeat right click and "scan for hardware changes". That might reset the monitor operating modes but it also gives you a chance to reinstall drivers. If this does not work, try other monitor crt/lcd to see what happens.

SOURCE: problm with viewsonic va712b
It may also be a problem with your video card, I've already seen a problem likewise, try to remove and replug your VGA card and try again, if you can try to plug another screen on your PC and to plug your screen on another PC, then you'll be sure

davsmith00, Did you look on rear of VA712B where the power plug enters the power JACK connector? Maybe it will only tell you who is positive and who is negative (gnd) some monitors state what is the required V & I for them on the rear labels somewhere. This will teach you not to lose your supply. Did the dog hide it under the bed? Good luck finding a replacement. There are sources on web that specialize in drop-in replacement IN-LINE switch-mode-power-supply Bricks. You can also try newark.com and mouser.com and digikey.com to see if they have something. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aim.com Bye for now.
