Question about Toshiba Office Equipment & Supplies

Need to set a Toshiba e-Studio 352 to 9600 baud

I have a Toshiba e-Studio 352 with single-line fax board. I need to compensate for a bad phone line. Someone suggested I turn off JBIG compression and turn off v.34. I don't have a fax service manual and I was wondering if anyone here would be able to supply me with the proper codes.

Or, if you have a better solution, that's fine too. I can turn on "Quality Transmit" per fax and I can turn it on in the address book but I need to have it turned on by default for every fax.

Thanks :)

SOURCE: Any way to manually LOWER the Fax Connection Baud Rate?

Newer fax technology adjusts transmission speed automatcally, so no adjustment is necesary. therefore, there is no menu option to change it. Your problem resides either on your phone line or the one you are trying to connect to. Call the other people and ask them if thei are receiving without problem. If you are able to transmit elsewhere and the other party is receiving from everywhere, try turning off the ECM option on your unit.

SOURCE: Need to change Baude rate of HP 4215 all-in-one mechine

That might help. Faxing is signal timing specific. I believe they are sent from the factory to run at "fast" which is 33.6kbps. Try to set it to medium first (14.4) if no luck set to Slow (9.6). Try these steps:

  1. Press Setup .
  2. Select Advanced Fax Setup .
  3. Press OK .
  4. Select Fax Speed .
  5. Press OK .
  6. Select Medium .
  7. Press OK .
Good luck!

SOURCE: set up fax and dsl using one phone line

You can buy a splitter to put on your line so you can run both devices. They sell them at the dollar tree big lots and everywhere else usually, and range from .59 to $2. as far as another DSL filter ask a friend neighbor or co-worker if they have or had dsl and have an extra filter. If not then you can pick them up for a couple of bucks at radio shack

SOURCE: where do I find Baud 9600 Rate and ECM?

You can't, plus it will not help on a digital phone system. ALL fax machines are ANALOG devices.

Toshiba E455 w/fax kit is not sending and receiving faxes well. Our phone vendor is saying that the baud rate is set too high on the Toshiba's and our system cannot handle it.???? Is this true?

Granted I only have 27 years in the copier/fax/printer service business but I have never heard of the fax comunication speed being set to high for a phone line to handle. If you get some or most faxes ok then I tend to suspect ECM being the cause in these cases. ECM stands for Error Correction Mode. I do not know how to tell you to check it on your machine as I am not familiar enough with the 455 but you need to check your fax settings and try turning ECM mode to OFF. It stll could be phone line related but turning off ECM will fix most of those issues.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

How do I change baud rate on Lexmark X5650 in

Just to set your expectation, MagicJack phone service may work but Lexmark does not recommend the printer to be connected to a digital phone signal (e.g. MagicJack, Vonage, etc.) since there are lots of jitter and packet loss in the transmission signal resulting to fax failures. The Lexmark fax machine will have its optimum performance when connected to an analog signal(regular telephone line). But here's how to configure the printer's baud rate. From the Control Panel, press Settings(wrench icon)> Fax Setup, hit Ok > Dialing and Sending, hit Ok > Max Send Speed, hit Ok > set down the speed to 9600 bps. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

I need to change a baud rate to9600 for telephone line. can you direct me please.

How to change the baud rate....

Press Menu/Set, 2, 0, 1.
Press ▲ or ▼ to select Basic or
Normal (or High*).
Press Menu/Set.
Press Stop/Exit.
* High is available for FAX-2910, FAX-2920
and MFC-7225 only.
Basic reduces the modem speed to 9600

prefer to use it only when needed.
Normal sets the modem speed at
14400 bps.
High sets the modem speed at
33600 bps..
