Question about Dell (8N816) Motherboard

Inspiron 6400 DC input fault

I have worked Mother Board Dell Inspiron 6400 but the DC input have a problem no input from the Jacket ( what happened is the positive and Negative terminals are changed between each other and that make some thing faulty in the motherboard I could not find it what exactlly  where and what it is , It is the chip for supply voltage or the resistor or the Capacitor , please advice me . how can I troubleshot this problem

Please remove the power supply pin from the mother board short the pin witres colured green and black if the power supply is working then there is no problem with the power supply check ur memory card to if the pwoer supply is working iff its ok and still not working contact a chiplevel engineer to correct the mother board as there is problem with powersupply section in ur motherboard

Fix ram slot

Couldn't locate documentation on this unit, no 1520 listed. Typically both card slots must be filled and of matching size/speed etc. Good luck.

You have a inverter circuit that is malfunctioning and needs replacement if it is on the mother board the mother board may need replacement . There also may be a failing video card.

Adapter should be faulty,kindly check with one another.

Inspiron 6400 will not power up new battery and

inside were ur charger goes into you computer try to use plyers to pull it out some and that ""MIGHT"" work

Hi Dear, well, you can get 1v dc or 1.5v dc from any pc motherboard but I'll never recommend you to do that. You can use Black and Red wire combination to get 5v dc or Black and Yellow wire combination to get 12v dc from motherboard's power supply. 3 LEDs in series can b use for 5v dc input.

type DEL key at startup go in the Bios settings look if poweron is disabled and all related (dont change any if not known to u) otherwise tell me more about your inspiron : is it a new install os(any?)which kind?

No sound from front headphones

check your speaker is good and it i inerted in the correct slot and it raise the error of POST so the mother board power had some problem cheak wether the led in the mother board glows properly once it correct check with your board input power +-5,using your multimeter.or else there is a problem in your smps
