Question about Sony Handycam DCR-HC42 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Sony CamCorder Model DCR-HC42E . (lcd showing blank)


I have a sony CamCorder Model DCR-HC42E .

The LCD screen is not displaying anything.. For the last two days it

was displaying very very low brightness... but from today ..that has

totally disappeared.. And the camcorder is working fine for recording

and playing.

I always check in the view finder and then press the corresponding key

in the lcd screen.

The functionality are working but at times it work wrong.

Pls let me know what needs to be done.

i feel this could be the problem of flexwire or the switch which hides the display from the viewfinder and shows in the LCD

    I also have the same problem with the LCD not being on when the camera is in operation.

    Once the LCD is in its closed position, the view vinder activates, and all the appropiate touch screen buttons still function, but the LCD is not one.

    Please help me with this.

    I have the same problem. all function it fine, except the LCD no display, it's everything black. the touch screen it's ok too.

    what can i do?

    I have exactly the same problem. LCD is black but otherwise the camera functions fine. The buttons on the LCD work (if only I could see them). Records and plays fine through the normal viewfinder.

    Mine is the same problem as everyone esle. LCD blank - everything else is fine can still use the menu but cant see the icons.

    Any suggestions ????

    I have the same problem. LCD screen is black can only use viewfinder mode. My camara is just 15months old.

DCR HC-42 LCD screen problem

Hi i had the same problem and i got it for the second time. can i please know how to remove the camera so i can replace the strip my self. And do u have a service manual. if so can i know where to get one for my self. thanks

I think a wire connecting LCD screen with the cam is disconnected. Plz do not attempt to rectify the problem urself. Must see sony workshop.

Lcd screen not working on sony dcr hc 42e

the flex wire of the lcd monitor is already cut and already left is on the touch screen that why is functioning ...go the sony service for the replacing flex wire...or to the other service center for fixing the flex wire....

you have reach a sony service center for this there is a flaxi part which is not working and sony service center charges rs.2010/- for this

No Display is coming on the Flip out LCD

CCD sensor seems faulty . Sony should repair free of charge but otherwise it is not an expensive repair to perform : requires 1 hour labout at most. ( the componenet itself is not expensive ).

LCD Screen not working

the problem of your camera is the flexwire cable of the lcd monitor that why you don't see nothing in the panel,Also the message 'cover is not open' appears,while the cover is already opened the switch on cover have poor is not covered by sony have to replace or repair that switch and flexwire cable....
