Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer

2 Answers

I have a Kenmore 90 series top load washing machine, when it goes into the wash cycle, the aggitator functions , but jerks and makes a clicking sound. Also, causes the lights to blink in the house. I bought it new 10 years ago. I have a similar problem with a Kenmore washer 11020922990. The agitator makes a clicking noise and is slow and the lights in the house dim at the same frequency of the agitator. Also the speed of the agitator does not change with the selector.

I have the same issue (intermittently) with my Kenmore / Whirlpool 11092293100. I have replaced EVERY mechanical part within the machine: motor, pump, clutch, drive block, agitator cam, dogs, support base, drive assembly, drive block, spanner nut, capacitor, etc.

To my unpleasant surprise, none of these made a difference. I know there is not an electrical issue as the spin cycle works without a hitch (I would think this to require every bit as much current as agitating). I started researching other issues knowing that it is definitely an electrical problem. Amazingly, when I bang on the control panel, it works fine. Now I need only to determine which switch, relay, or connection is to blame.

i just thought I would spare others the headache of replacing deep parts or calling an electrician if they are experiencing a similar issue.

Get a repairman in to check for a damaged drive train on the washer and an electrician in to check the wiring in your house

Switching a high power electric shower on can cause some voltage drop which in turn causes the lights to dim for a short period.

But having a washer stalling on wash doing it sounds as if you have some major issues with the house wiring.

Kenmore 90 series with speed selector switch set to heavy duty cycle it works fine any other setting , regular , hand wash setting the agitator makes a loud clicking sound as it agitates

sounds like a transmition problem. does the noise happen when it goes into spin on the other settings? If no noise in the spin cycle on the other setting, then it sounds like a the gears in the transmition internally when bad for the agitation.

Kenmore series 70 washer won't stop agitating when lid Is lifted.

I have a Series 80 and when I lift the lid it does not stop aggitating when in wash mode. When I lift the lid it does stop spinning when in rinse mode. As designed.

To stop wash-mode aggitation at lid-lift, using the existing lid switch and other electrical components, is not easy and not recommended. I can think of a way to do it (triple-pole lid switch) but I will not detail the idea .. for safety concerns.

To stop aggitation, simply use the main settings dial control. You'll save money and possibly prevent a fire hazard!

Aggitator won't work and won't spin/ drains ok

Coupling is bad.
There is a coupling between the motor and the transmission. When this part breaks then it will pump the water out but won't spin or aggitate.
