Not switching on...

The red light (Power Button ) doesn't turn green when switching on, usually is a Fuse or a short, but the Board looks ok. to me...

Re: not switching on...

Ok, so you get the light but no power.  Try re-seating the ribbon cable to and from the power switch and on the mother board.  If you had the box open it may have been pulled loose.  If this does not work then it may be a bad switch or ribbon.  I do not think it is a fuse or the board since you are getting the red light.  You would normlly not get this if that was the case.

I turn on my ps3 and the green light comes on for a short time and the it beeps three times shuts off and the green light turns red and starts to flash. If I push the power button again the red Light

you need to change your power box there is a bad connection with the wires. its over heating you might whant to buy another at game stop or take it in to get fixed. the more you messed with it it might mess up your whole system.

When i turn my ps3 on at the switch the red light comes on as normal and push the on button the green light comes up 4 about a second then turns orange then a blinkin red light, how do i solve this??

This is known as they yellow light of death (ironic i know). This can be caused by the unit overheating causing solder on the board to melt and bridge(connect). Once this happens it shorts out the board causing the error you have now. Contact Sony and see if the unit is still under warranty.

Power botton stay red

If the PSU is confirmed working, it is either something wrong with the microcontroller in the southbridge that controls the power on sequence, the linear regulator that powers it and/or the ROL board, or a short in the 5V standby (blown capacitor, transistor, etc).

The easy way to determine which one of these is the problem is to look at the light on the PSU, if when you plug it into the 360 it turns red briefly (or stays red), there is a short on the standby power (If the short was on the switched supply, the 360 would power up then flash 3 red lights with error 0001 or 0002, or power up for a split second then shut itself off). Also measuring the resistance from 5VSB to ground is a pretty sure fire way to tell

If the 5V standby power is NOT shorted, then the issue is either in the power button on the RF board (easily tested by powering up the box via another method), the southbridge, the the voltage regulator supplying it.

The two regualtors are U5B1 (3.3V) and U5B2 (1.8V). They are located on the top of the motherboard near the back, jsut to the left of the large screw hole in the center of the motherboard (near the fans). The large tab opposite the 2 smaller pins is the output of each regulator, so they should measure 3.3v and 1.8v respectively when the 360 is in standby (off but plugged in).

If those measure ok, then I'd say the southbridge is dead (that motherboard is nothing but a nice paperweight)

The on/off switch won't turn on. i have power on (red light) switch clicks but no green light. i have taken lid off and white button seams on work but still no green light. i have even held down little...

This is one of three things. Unfortunately, it's difficult to determine which, unless you start replacing parts.

1. Bad switch. The switch doesn't usually go bad by itself, has the PS2 been dropped? Bumped? Anyone push the switch too hard? It's held in by solder on all 4 corners. If the solder becomes dislodged, the switch can fail.

2. Bad cable. This is rare unless someone opened the PS2 and removed/installed the cable a few times and frayed the internal wires.

3. Bad motherboard. Sometimes a power problem can develop, or the motherboard can short out. It's pretty rare, but I have seen it happen.

4. Bad AC adapter. Recent power surge? It's possible that the AC adapter is delivering enough voltage to power the standby light, but not enough to power the actual system on. You can easily check this by plugged your PS2 up on someone else's AC adapter or taking your AC adapter to someone else's PS2.

Faulty button, fuse. Try a new power cable, if that doesnt work then it will need a new on/off switch.

Ps2 slim will not power up

usually, there is a problem with a ribbon cable of power/reset switch. Try using a replacement ribbon of the same type.
