Unless you use a 3rd party email address like gmail or hotmail then when you stop paying the old provider any email addresses that they supplied will simply cease to exist and will not be accessible. So you need to set up a sky address (or gmail) and tell everyone what the new address is. If you have access, you can export the list, then import it into the new account.

One of the ways to change a gmail address to another address is to add a gmail account with another name. I suggest that you do not delete the first account yet but wait until u are sure that the new address is known to all your contacts and you no longer receive mail at your old account.

1. in your gmail account page, click on your user image in the top right corner.
2. in the drop-down menue that opens, click on "Add Account".

To toggle between accounts just click on the user image and you will see all your accounts to choose from.

You can't change the user ID as far as I know but you can send and receive emails via Gmail under a different identiity. i.e you can be [email protected]

Why don't you use the old address to send a test e-mail to the new one.
In general when you log in on Gmail, you are connected to the account whose address you entered. The other account's inbox should not appear in the first: They are different accounts.
There may be a way to consolidate all accounts in one mailbox. But I do not know how to do it. You should read a little more on gmail.
