Question about Hotpoint Ovens
Both elements of the Grill (part of top oven) are not working - no heat is coming out at all, either on "full" or "half grill" setting.
Yet, both grill elements appear to work OK (and certainly get hot) when the top oven is used or when the plate warming setting (in top oven) is used.
Initially I thought the grill elements had gone - but both at same time ? And why do they work when top oven is used ?
Any thoughts on what the problem might be ? Many thanks.

If the elements 'look' okay, they probably are. The 'infinite control switch' is probably the problem. With out the use of a meter, it's guess work. Unless you can see a connection problem.

If it is a fan assisted oven, then it is probably the oven element that has failed.
This is usually located at the rear of the inner oven compartment behind a removeable panel

The grill element should not 'blow' by just touching it - it should be earthed. The elements do gradually disintegrate over time & the inside wire element either fractures or touches the element casing causing the mains to trip. Sometimes this makes it trip just once & then stops working. Replace the element - not usually any fuse in circuit with this. Often held in by 2 screws adjacent to the element at back of oven and conections via Fast-ons- Rick
